My Teaching Journey

I was first introduced to yoga in high school but complained that it was “too slow" and instead opted to run, play sports, and workout at the gym. After graduating from college in 2007, I moved to New York City where I was reacquainted with yoga while searching for a new physical activity after suffering a hip and back injury {caused by running, of course}. When I ventured out in search of something that would not aggravate my injuries, I discovered yoga at my neighborhood gym in the East Village.

Once I began practicing regularly, I continued doing yoga anywhere that I could—including the “living area” of my 200 square-foot studio apartment. When I moved to Washington, DC in 2009, I found Tranquil Space, where I completed my 200-Hr. Certification in May, 2010 and my 500-Hr. Advanced Teacher Training in November, 2012.

I spent 4 years in DC/VA as a yoga teacher, Studio Director, Teacher Director, and a part of the Teacher Training staff at Tranquil Space, and in November, 2013 moved to Cape Cod to finally "settle down" in my husband's hometown. I've been teaching on the Cape ever since! Although I've taught at quite a few studios here, I now teach all of my weekly classes at Centerville Yoga & Wellness Center.

My Teaching Style

I teach vinyasa yoga with a strong focus on linking breath with movement. My teaching style has been described as sunny, encouraging, challenging, and inclusive, and I strive to invite my students to truly listen to their bodies while practicing, as I believe that the modern-day individual tends to ignore his or her body {until it screams out for help!}.

My classes have a positive, upbeat tempo, and I use a wide range of musical artists and genres to guide the class through my sequencing. If you come to my class, be ready to flow, sweat, breathe deeply, challenge yourself, and pay attention to your alignment. Personally, I am always working on infusing my life and my classes with more quiet, more stillness, and more FUN.
