A few weeks ago, I took Kimberly Wilson's "Yoga & Writing" Workshop. As you know, writing has become a bigger and bigger part of my life over the past few years (since starting this blog, really), so I saw this workshop as a chance to treat myself and feed my creative [yogi] soul.
One of the activities that we did at this workshop was a writing exercise where we outlined our "ideal creative life," or what an "ideal creative day" would look like for us. Woah, right? I mean, where do you even begin? I decided to go with a realistic approach--thinking about what I could actually do in my real daily life vs. what I could do in my alter ego's dream world, where I'm traveling in Europe, lounging on the beach, or have millions of dollars to fund all of my passion projects--and I was really excited to see that my realistic "ideal creative day" actually consists of a lot of the things that I'm already doing [yay!]. I was also able to see some of the things that I'm not doing enough of, like relaxing so that I have the energy to create, spending time outside, etc., so it was definitely a good exercise for me. Therefore, I wanted to share my ideal creative day with you, in hopes that it will get you thinking about your ideal creative day, or your ideal creative life, and the small ways in which you can begin to make changes towards living that creative day every once in a while... My Ideal Creative Day:
OMG, I want that life! And I'm close, I think! Just missing a personal chef, a porch or deck, a house, and the luxury to spend all day, every day creating ;) Totally realistic, wouldn't you agree? [Oh, and please note that since this is my ideal creative day, I have not included teaching yoga in the daily schedule. I do think that teaching yoga is a creative endeavor, but wanted to focus on my own non-yoga-related creative pursuits for the purpose of this exercise. This is not meant to take away from my love for teaching yoga--my ideal LIFE would definitely include teaching all of the classes that I teach now!!] What does your ideal creative day look like? If you could infuse your current life with just a bit more creativity, how would you do it? It's worth pondering... Comments are closed.
