Today, I'd like to introduce you to Nikki Rappaport, the adorable DC-based woman behind the fabulous blog Cupcakes for Breakfast. [How amazing is the title of her blog??]. Nikki's fun-loving, passionate personalty, gorgeous food photography (mostly baked goods, YUM!), and witty commentary have made me a big fan of her blog, even though you all know that I'm not much of a cook/baker ;) Her Facebook fan page describes Cupcakes for Breakfast in the following way: Life is sweet. Life if colorful. Cupcakes for Breakfast is a lifestyle blog by Nikki Rappaport–baking, interior design, 20-something life, style, and other bright and lovely things. Sounds great, right? If you aren't already a reader, you should be! You can read below for the inside scoop on all things Nikki + Cupcakes for Breakfast: Why did you start blogging? Why have you continued to do so? I started blogging as a project for one of my senior year journalism classes in college, and I just continued to do it because it was a way for me to continue my writing after graduating. I've always been a writer and editor, and blogging is a way I can do that outside of work and incorporate my other passions like food, interior design and style. Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts? For my recipes, I usually draw inspiration from memories. Food I had from when I was younger or with a certain person that allow me to tell a story around the meal. What's your biggest guilty pleasure? Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. And a big glass of milk. How do you stay balanced? How do you unwind? This has been especially hard for me recently, but cooking keeps me balanced. If I'm able to come home after work and spend a little mindless time in the kitchen, that really keeps me happy. Other than that....yoga, red wine, group texts with some of my best friends, and writing in a journal before bed. What's your favorite blog post you've ever written, and why? Hard to pick a favorite, but I love "From Training Bras to Stand Mixers" – it was a fun piece to write and it says so much about growing up and feeling confident in yourself...whether at 11 or 25. If you were exiled to a desert island and could only bring 3 things, what would they be (have to ask it because I love this question!) Music (for solo dance parties), my pillow, a journal to write in If you could give one piece of advice to new bloggers, what would it be? Read other blogs! The best part about blogging is the community that comes with it. So be a part of it and participate. What's one item that you cannot live without? My iphone! Words of wisdom you live by? My mom always reminds me of two simple words: "joy" & "breathe" – thinking of them in any situation instantly makes me feel better. Want to learn more about Nikki? Here are a few quick links:

Cupcakes are one of my favorite things in life (especially Georgetown Cupcake!). I have been known to devour some for breakfast with a nice hot cup of coffee. Mmmmm.
