Today's podcast = Ben's first therapy session. Without setting out to do so, we uncover a lot about what motivates Ben (Teaser: lots of it is negative!), and our hope is that this discussion will inspire you to look at what motivates you, as well.
Also, we introduce a fun new segment (our first segment!) and revisit some follow-up from the Passing on the Pizza Episode [aka, Ben gets called out]. Tough week for Ben, I guess ;) Here's the official episode description: What motivates you? Do you know why you do what you do? In Episode 9, we discuss the dangers of relying on negative sources of motivation in order to make things happen or achieve goals in your life. There's a big difference between motivation that comes from a place of fear, anger, or comparison, as opposed to motivation caused by passion, excitement, or fulfillment, and we want you to understand that difference. In the first half of the episode, we break down the various types of negative motivation that we’ve each experienced and give examples of situations in which we’ve relied on these types of motivation. In the second half, we discuss the dangers of these types of motivation and offer some ways to flip your perspective and find more positive sources of inspiration. You can listen to the episode below OR by downloading and/or subscribing in iTunes or Stitcher (be sure you search "Starr Struck Radio" if you're searching for it).

Lots of food for thought in this podcast. I was struck by how often I approach new music projects with trepidation (OMG, I have so much to learn, I suck, This is hard, etc.) rather than excitement and joy in the process. That negative motivation thing is a real problem!
