I've learned that in the world of motherhood, you're only as good as your baby's previous night of sleep [or her last nap]. Luckily for me, last night was one of the better nights we've had in a while, so I'm feeling okay today regardless of the fact that we had another challenging week of sleep issues. What about you? How was your week? I hope that despite some of the crazy things that have happened in our political world over the past 7 days, you still had a week *full* of simple joys. And actually, one of my simple pleasures has been seeing all of the inspiring ways that my friends have been springing into action when Trump does something that goes against their beliefs [i.e. Immigration Ban]. Keep it going everyone and great work! Now on to the simple things that have brought me pleasure over the past week... HEAR: "We Should Be Friends" by Miranda Lambert Somehow, I missed the fact that Miranda Lambert put out a new album at the end of last year (perhaps because I was in the throes of life with a new baby?). I'm a huge Miranda fan, so when I found out THIS PAST WEEK, I bought her album immediately. This song, which I heard on the radio and actually tipped me off to the fact that she had a new album out, is a fun one. Maybe I like it so much because I want to be friends with Miranda? Who knows. Anyways, you can listen below: SEE: Charlie Mae in her high chair We've been wanting Charlie Mae to start sitting at the table with us while we eat (so that she's used to it when we start introducing solids next month), so I bought a second-hand high chair from a neighbor late last week and she sat with us for the first time over the weekend. It was SO cute! She looks so tiny at the table, but she's so happy and it's really sweet to have her sitting with us like the little person that she is...she's growing up so quickly! ;) TASTE: Whole Foods' Ground Chia + Flax Seed Blend (Vanilla + Maple Flavor) In the winter I eat oatmeal for breakfast every day, and the recent addition of a Tbs of this seed blend has been a delicious change to my mornings. I got this blend for an Instagram takeover that I did for our local WFM recently, and have been eating it every AM since. Delicious! SMELL: Lavender Essential Oil in the middle of the night Following the recommendation of a friend, we've started diffusing lavender oil in Charlie Mae's room before + while she's sleeping every night in the hopes that it will help her relax and sleep better. I can't tell how much of a difference it's making for her, but it's been great for me every time that I have to go in there in the middle of the night. Just one whiff of the lovely scent of lavender has helped me to breathe a little easier and feel better about the fact that I'm up in the wee hours... TOUCH: Hot showers Until becoming a mom, I never appreciated how incredible a hot shower could truly feel. Showering is one of the few things that I'm doing on my own these days--and sadly, it's one of the few ways that I'm "pampering" myself (ha!)--so they've become really special to me. I know I'll eventually get back to having a bit more time to myself, but for now, I'm relishing my showers and standing under the water a little longer than I might have done in the past. So there you go! I hope that you can find some time to reflect on some of your simple pleasures from the past week today, too. Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

I always enjoy SJOTW and find many new things to try. I tried to find the Gound Chia and Flax Seed Blend on Whole Foods website without success. I was wondering if you could please provide me with any other information that might enable me to locate this product. Charlie Mae is too precious and growing so fast. Love to see your photos of her! Thank-you!

Hi Ellen! Unfortunately, I can't find it on their site, either, but I promise I got it there! ;) The product is in the supplements section...if you don't see it at your local WFM maybe it's a regional product, a seasonal product, or only rolled out in certain places!? Hope you can find it! And thanks for the Charlie Mae love :) xoxo Comments are closed.
