A few of the simple, sensory pleasures that brought me joy over the past week... HEAR: "Try" by Colbie Caillat Okay, so it's been making the rounds for a while now, but if you haven't seen this music video or heard this song yet, you should. It's a feel-good self-love anthem for the ladies and of course, I'm a fan. Listen + watch the fabulous video [that shows women taking off their makeup and revealing their natural selves] below... SEE: Lena Dunham Gives Advice [#ASK LENA] I couldn't love Lena Dunham any more. Seriously. I want to be her friend and I feel like we're already friends and I cannot wait for her book to come out next week (countdown to September 30th, anyone!?). In preparation for her book's release--and with the help of some crazy good publicity people (I'm assuming?)--she's released 12 short videos where she gives advice to women who write in with questions. It's awesome and watching these videos made me laugh and smile many times this week ;) TASTE: Celery + Peanut Butter I know this is super dorky, but here it is: I really like that old kindergarten snack, "Ants on a Log." I don't actually like raisins, but I've found that I do like them when they're ants, perched on top of a peanut butter-covered celery log...alas, we don't have raisins in our house (because I don't like them, remember?), so when I was craving said snack this week, I had to eat just the logs, sans ants. However, they were still delicious and left me quite satisfied, in a very throwback sort of way ;) SMELL: Homemade Facial Lotion Am I starting to sound like a robot who does everything my acupuncturist/nutritional counselor tells me to do? Perhaps. But, she told me that I should stop putting chemicals on my face (DUH?) and gave me the recipe for a super simple at-home face lotion, so I made it last week. Shea butter (100%) and Jojoba Oil (100%). That's it. Mix 'em together til you have a consistency that you like and voila, you're done. I really love the smell, the feel, and the chemical-free-ness and am enjoying using it. Give it a try!? TOUCH: Breaking out the slippers... Crazily enough, it's starting to be slipper season again. WEIRD. This week, it's been around 60 in our house in the mornings, and that feels quite cold on my tootsies after all of the warm summer temps. So, I broke out my slippers and my sweats and it's been rather snuggly...bring it on, fall! I'm ready for you! Other SJOTW? Being a part of Dream Big (obvs), getting back into Boardwalk Empire with the hubsters, dinner with a friend last weekend, and AM yoga (this morning!). Hope your week was full of simple pleasures, too! Take some time to stop and reflect on them today, if you can... Happy Friday! Comments are closed.
