Fall is officially here! Woot woot! I hope you enjoyed your Autumnal Equinox week and are ready for this new season.
Not to jump the gun, but I leave for my Italy Retreat 2 weeks from today and I can't believe it! You know when you have that thing or that trip that's like a year away and you're always saying to yourself, "Oh, that's not for a looooong time," and then it's almost here? Such a crazy feeling. So how about we slow things down by reflecting on the past week, shall we? What brought you joy over the past 7 days? My simple, sensory pleasures are below... HEAR: Ocean waves crashing {while walking on the beach} I've been to the beach 6 out of the last 7 days. As I mentioned last week, dogs are now allowed to walk on the beach again, so we've been taking Sayde there for her daily walks. Also, my mom came to visit on Monday, so we've been sneaking off and spending afternoons on the beach this week, which has been glorious. As I've been soaking up the last bit of summer sunshine, the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore has been incredibly soothing and lovely. I love this place SO much. PS. Another "Hear" SJOTW? Ryan Adams' cover of "Bad Blood" by T. Swift. He's covered her ENTIRE 1989 album on his new album with the same title (which came out this week). I need to buy and listen STAT. SEE: My mom! I haven't seen my mom since last Christmas (which is unacceptable!), so it's been wonderful having her in town this week and showing her our house, watching her and Sayde bond again, etc. She's here until Monday so we'll be spending lots more time together this weekend. Yay! TASTE: Homemade Sour Cream Pound Cake batter :) We had a family birthday this week, so my mom and I made a homemade pound cake as a gift. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know that this is our household's/family's FAVORITE cake and that there is really nothing like it. Thus, licking the batter was divine. SMELL: Movie theatre popcorn We went to a movie last weekend--our first movie in an actual theatre since living on Cape Cod (almost 2 years!)! We saw Black Mass, which was creepy and crazy but really good, and Ben actually stayed awake for the entire movie (unlike when we watch movies/shows at home). He also got popcorn, which I didn't eat because I was too full from dinner, but it smelled delicious and the scent was enough to make our first movie theatre trip in 2 years feel complete. TOUCH: Snuggly sweatshirts for the cool Cape Cod mornings/evenings Not to be that cliche girl blogger, but um, I really do love the fall and the cool mornings + evenings we've been having lately. I love getting up, slipping on some big socks and a sweatshirt over my PJs, and then sipping my hot tea in the chilly morning air. It's so energizing! ...And that's it for this week! Now I'm off to explore Nantucket with my mom + Sayde (her first "trip")! We're also stopping by our Namaste Nantucket Yoga Retreat location, so I'll be sure to post a few pics to Instagram for those who are joining us and want a sneak peek ;) Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
