Today is the first day of fall and it actually feels like it here! It's raining with a high of 63 (freezing compared to recent temps), but then again, it's been raining here ALL week due to Hurricane Jose so that's kind of the norm right now.
In other news, Ben was on Martha's Vineyard for work this week and now all boats to + from from the island have been canceled (due to the high winds), so he's still stuck over there and won't be able to come home until they start the boats back up again {#islandproblems}...fingers crossed that they figure out a way to get him home ASAP because I'm exhausted from parenting alone all week. I truly don't know how single parents do it. You guys are amazing. But anyways, how was your week? And have you had a chance to reflect on your favorite simple, sensory joys from the past week yet? If not, I encourage you to do so today. Here are a few of the things that made me smile over the past 7 days... HEAR: 36 Questions Podcast Musical I know that a podcast musical sounds a little ridiculous--and it kind of is--but it's also kind of great. I don't know why I just heard about this podcast for the first time this week, but I did, and then immediately subscribed and binge-listened to all 3 Acts while working on Tuesday. It features Jonathan Groff (of Glee) and a super talented female lead that I had never heard of and it's SO fun! Learn more/listen to the show here. SEE: The Big Short (movie, not book) I know this movie is pretty old now, but we finally finished watching it a last weekend and it was really good. Ben and I started it on a flight back in January 2016 but we didn't finish it because the plane landed before we could, and then we forgot about it {for almost 2 years, haha!} until we were flipping through Netflix on Saturday. My favorite thing about this movie besides the great acting/writing is the fact that it actually helped me understand what happened during the housing crisis and financial meltdown. WOW, what a scary mess. TASTE: Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Have you guys been noticing a theme in my "taste" simple joys lately? All pretty decadent sweet treats. Yep. I think I need do another sugar detox pretty soon, as things have gotten a little out of control around here and we've been indulging in a few too many desserts lately (I blame Ben). But boy oh boy, while I'm still on the sugar, let me tell you that the chocolate chip cookie brownie that Ben and I split last weekend was delicious!!! I'm still dreaming about it. Is that how you know when you've become a sugar addict? ;) SMELL: Charlie Mae's strawberry hands Charlie Mae is obsessed with strawberries (and all berries...) and I think there is just something SO sweet about her little hands smelling like strawberries after she eats. I love coming home from teaching and picking her up and smelling strawberries mixed with her delicious little baby smell. She's so scrumptious! TOUCH: Cool air Although we've had a crazy weather week around here and I'm not loving the aforementioned high winds and rain, I do have to say that I'm loving the fall-like temps, not having to turn on the AC, and wearing a sweatshirt and slippers around the house. Isn't it cozy? It is. So is Sayde snuggling in my lap again while I work, which hasn't happened since spring. And there you have it; another week in the books. I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see some of you at my workshop tonight! Comments are closed.
