How was your week? I hope good! Have you been as saddened as I've been by the sun setting earlier + earlier this week? Summer really is coming to an end...sigh. So, lets try and relish the last little bit of this season by reflecting on our simple, sensory pleasures from the past week, shall we? What made you smile over the past 7 days? My SJOTW are below. HEAR: Rainy Day Music by The Jayhawks I had completely forgotten about this album + group, and then while listening to music on shuffle while working earlier this week, one of their songs came on. It took me back! And it made me so happy! So I listened to the whole thing and it was great. You can listen to one of my faves, "Stumbling Through the Dark" below: SEE: Good books/reading in bed every night I have to admit, I've been mostly staring at my computer screen this week. But, no matter what, I always have my sacred reading time before bed, and I've been reading some *REALLY* good books lately. I'll share the actual books in my upcoming "Fall Reading List" post, but suffice it to say that I've been having to force myself to put the book down and go to bed. #ILikeBigBooksandICannotLie TASTE: Dried Mango... I stopped eating dried mango a while ago because of my jaw issues--I have a lot of jaw pain and eating super chewy foods makes it worse. But last Friday, in a moment of weakness, I bought some at Whole Foods and I've been eating it ever since. Man oh man, jaw issues or not, it is SUCH a delicious treat!!! I know I've included it in SJOTW before, but if you don't know about it, I think the best kind you can get is unsweetened/unsulfured from Whole Foods (from the wholesale bins). Delish. SMELL: Essential oil savasana assists I was able to sneak away to take two actual yoga classes this week (as opposed to all of the home practice I've been doing this summer!) and in both classes, the teachers used essential oils on me in savasana. I know essential oils are all the rage right now, but there's a reason for that: they are incredible. I don't even know which ones were used on me, I just know they smelled ah-mazing. TOUCH: Sand between my toes + water on my feet while walking Sayde on the beach (first time since May!) On the Cape, you can't walk your dog on the beach during the busy summer season. Our local beach just opened back up for dogs on Wednesday, and don't you know that Sayde was back on the beach that day. It was so wonderful to see her there again (she loves it!) and it was so lovely walking with my feet in the water instead of pounding on the pavement. Ahhhh. I guess that's it for now! I hope you can find a few moments to reflect on your simple joys of the week today... For those who are local, I've got a my Lets Celebrate the Hips! A Pigeon Pose Party workshop coming up at Centerville Yoga + Wellness Center on Saturday from 3-5pm. Hope you'll join me! You can reserve your space here. {And don't forget to catch up on Starr Struck Radio this weekend! We've been getting great feedback about this past week's episode...} Have a good one! 9/18/2015 08:23:35 am
My favorite oil is 'chill pill' by Aura Cacia. It's lavender and chamomile. Heaven in a bottle! P.S. I'm horrible at putting the tops on anything in my fridge too! Loved the last podcast. You guys are hilarious and Brian is a great co-host.
