Happy Halloween, bloggies! I hope that as you read this, you're either sitting at your desk in-costume (if so, that is AWESOME), eating candy, and/or carving a pumpkin ;) Are you dressing up this year? I'm kinda sad that I'm not (I LOVE wearing costumes!), but that's just the way it goes sometimes. We did dress Sayde up, though! More on that experience below... So lets talk SJOTW. What brought you happiness over the past 7 days? My simple, sensory pleasures are below... HEAR: Johnny Cash's version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Sick of the typical Halloween tunes? Add this song to your Halloween playlist! It's a perfect alternative to The Monster Mash and Thriller (although don't get me wrong, Thriller is a classic), and it has just a bit more country grit, which is always a plus in my book. Also, I love me some J. Cash. You can listen below: SEE: Sayde the Halloween Hot Dog So, we found out that Sayde doesn't like wearing costumes. Especially hot dog costumes. But here's the thing--ever since we got her, it has been Ben's dream to put her in a hot dog costume. Thus, as his loving wife, I wanted to make this dream come true for him, so I bought the costume, dressed her up (even though she was shaking while I put the costume on), and then called him in to come look...but she hated it. She ran away from us, bouncing her buns against the walls and doors and looking totally freaked out until the costume broke. It was kind of sad. I have to say, though, that the $14.99 was totally worth seeing a little hot dog run around the house for 2 minutes. Oh, Sayde... TASTE: Mashed Butternut Squash I made something edible this week! It may be one of the easier things to make, but made it all by myself! Mashed butternut squash--squash, butter, salt, pepper, oven. Those are the basics. It was seasonal and yummy and I was proud, even if I shouldn't have been ;) SMELL: Cinnamon Sticks As an after dinner treat these days, Ben and I have been LOVING hot apple cider. We heat it up and then pour it into a mug with a cinnamon stick inside. [I like to call them cinnamon swizzles, because that's more fun.] Anyways, we ran out of sticks last weekend, so I asked Ben to buy us more on Amazon. On Wednesday I received a package while Ben was at work, and when I opened it, I found 150 cinnamon swizzle sticks in a HUGE plastic bag. I kid you not. It's ridiculous. So...I guess we'll be enjoying cinnamon sticks for the next 20 years or so? Anybody want to come over for cider? TOUCH: Going to the Chiropractor after almost a year away (!) My jaw pain is back and it's spreading down into my neck and shoulders (fun, fun!), so I finally made an appointment with a chiro to augment all of the acupuncture I've been doing. You guys--it felt SOOOOO good! And it gave me SOOOOOOO much relief! I am such a believer in chiropractics (as long as you have someone who knows what they're doing!) and I was so happy to get back to it this week. So there you have it. I hope that your week was full of simple pleasures, too--Halloween-inspired, or not ;) Oh, and my November newsletter drops tomorrow morning! If you want to receive it, be sure to sign up below: Have a great Halloween weekend, everyone! And if you do dress up, please post lots of pics of your costume to social media, so that I can live vicariously through you ;)
