Well, it was another exhausting week around here as we continue to work through Charlie Mae's recent bedtime/sleep struggles {we've decided they're definitely related to the attachment issues she's going through right now}. But I'm hopeful that we've made some progress and our new routines are starting to pay off...fingers crossed that we're through the worst of it!
And of course (as usual), despite the rough nights this week was still a lovely one full of moments of pure joy, gratitude, and sensory pleasure. Here are some of the things that brought me happiness over the past 7 days... HEAR: "Fast Car Remix" by Jonas Blue (Feat. Dakota) This song! I first heard it at Babywearing Hip Hop last winter, and for some reason remembered it this week and played it for Ben one night while we were doing dishes. Now we're both obsessed and it's been in my head all week. Don't get me wrong, the OG version by Tracy Chapman is still the best, but this is a fun updated cover + remix. I love a good remix. Listen here. SEE: Sleeping Baby When you've had a bunch of really challenging sleep nights in a row, there's nothing like a night when everything goes off without a hitch and everyone finally gets sleep again. We've had a few really good nights + bedtimes sprinkled throughout the less enjoyable ones of the past week and those nights have felt like a gift compared to the tough ones. Perspective, it's a magical thing! TASTE: Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Another dessert...I know...but I just can't help it, Ben *keeps* buying ice cream and it tastes SO good! He's got some weird idea that ice cream is good for you compared to other sweets (???) so he just keeps at it. But I'll stop pointing the finger and just say that I had a bowl of this ice cream last weekend and it was so smooth and refreshing. I would never pick Mint Chocolate Chip if I were to choose a flavor on my own but wowee, was it tasty. SMELL: Coonamessett Farm As I mentioned on Instagram this week, we finally made it to a local "pick your own veggies + eggs" farm that we've been dying to visit and sure enough, it was the best. We went for their fall activities--hayride, pumpkin patch, seasonal squashes, etc.--but thoroughly enjoyed everything they had to offer. We especially enjoyed all of the animals (Charlie Mae loved the alpacas). We can't wait to go back! TOUCH: Home practice outside in a sweatshirt + thick socks {followed by the hot tea pictured above} I did a back deck home practice on a chilly (but sunny) fall morning on Tuesday and it was divine. I kept my socks and thick sweatshirt on to stay warm, and was able to build up some nice heat and do some much-needed deep breathing/stress-release from the rough night before. Thank you, yoga! ...And that's it from me this week. I hope you can find some time to reflect on your favorite simple, sensory joys of the week today, too. And two housekeeping notes/reminders:
