Well, here we are. Ben and I have exactly 3 more weeks before we move. [Oh em freaking gee!] All I want to do is crawl back into bed today (I went to the AM yoga class this morning, and fell asleep during savasana), but alas, I must push through--at least for the next 3 weeks... So now, more than ever, I'm feeling the importance of savoring the simple, sensory pleasures in life: How it feels to teach a class at Tranquil Space, the scent of the lavender spray, hearing my fellow yogis breathe all around me, looking around the room to see so many familiar faces, and even my morning blogging routine in my little Arlington apartment--all of this has a newfound meaning for me now. Thus, here are some of my simple joys from the past 7 days...what made you smile, laugh, or sigh with relief over the past week or so? HEAR: "Djorolen" by Bela Fleck and Oumou Sangare Surprise, surprise, one of my blog readers told me about this song (thanks, Sarah)! It's my savasana song on my October playlist, and I've just been loving it this monh. It's so beautiful. Listen below! SEE: Making Pancakes with Ben/Our Anniversary Festivities Here's what Ben and I did on our anniversary last weekend: "Slept in" (8:30 = so lame). Woke up, lounged around drinking coffee + tea on the balcony, re-read the speeches from our wedding (cried) and gave each other our anniversary gifts (we made each other cards, for "paper"), then made homemade pancakes. We ate our gluten-full pancakes together (AMAZING), then left all of the dishes in the sink (woohoo!) and went to Mt. Vernon. We walked all around George Washington's home, then went back to our home (slightly smaller) and watched a movie in the middle of the day (we're crazy like that!). We finished the day with dinner at Ted's Bulletin, where we stuffed our faces, and then went home to put our full bellies to bed early. It was marvelous. TASTE: Desserts galore At the end of last weekend, I needed a detox--badly. Obviously, you already know about Sunday's gorgefest (which ended with milkshakes and a chocolate chip cookie at Ted's!), but on Saturday, I also went to game night at a friend's house where she had a "dessert bar." I know! I literally haven't wanted a single sweet all week. It was a weekend of sugar and gluten overload, for sure, BUT, wow, were those desserts delicious at the time ;) SMELL: Does relief have a smell? It feels really, really good to have let the proverbial cat out of the bag on Monday. You guys don't know how much I've been dying to write about all of the emotions wrapped up in this enormous life decision, and it's been great to have everything out in the open so that I can speak freely. Yes, it makes it more real, and thus, more scary, but I think I like feeling real, even if it's hard. I'll be blogging a lot more about the moving/transition process as I start to wind things down here, but right now, I'm still in the middle of it all, just trying to get my head above water... TOUCH: Hand Printed Feather Tank by Red Prairie Press [This is actually a SJOTW leftover from last week, but I decided to share it this week since I forgot it last Friday...] I got this hand printed tank at Crafty Bastards two weeks ago, and I'm in love with it. Not only does it match my feather tattoo on my foot, but it's also one of the softest, most comfortable shirts ever. If it looks familiar, that's because I wore it in yesterday's Mat Matters video ;) Check out Red Prairie Press' online shop for some of the cutest items ever! This weekend, we're starting our goodbye tour (doing dinner with friends both nights), I'm teaching my seasonal restorative workshop at TSA (my last one...waaahhhhh!), and we're going to start cleaning up/packing (UGH). Wish me luck! I hope your week was FULL of simple, sensory joys, and that your weekend is even more full-er ;) PS. Today is the LAST DAY to submit your dress to be painted! Details here. I'll be posting all submissions to the blog so that you can start voting on Monday. Yay!
