Hello from DC! I caught a quick flight here yesterday (may have been the smoothest travel experience of my life...thanks, JetBlue!) and just like that, I've been transported into my old life. Sort of.
I say this every time I come back here, but wow, what a weird experience. It feels like I was just living here--like I might still live here, because everything is just so darn familiar--and yet, it's been 2 years since we moved and my life is completely different now. Such a time warp. Anyways, this week was full of simple joys and a few of my favorites are below. What brought you happiness over the past 7 days? HEAR: "Hotline Bling" by Drake I know I'm a bit late to this lovefest, but OMG, this song. I can't get enough. Also, the video; can't get enough of that, either. I want to dance in a cube in a turtleneck and look that cool! I've been practicing the moves at home, but Ben is *not* impressed (neither is Sayde). Oh well. You can listen and watch below: SEE: My DC people!!! [What did you expect?] Obvious, I know, but it's so great to see my DC friends! And their children! And their cats! Well, not really their cats, because I'm allergic, but still...so wonderful being back + reconnecting. TASTE: Halloween candy...ruh roh. So, I know you're supposed to buy candy that you don't like so that if you have leftovers you don't end up eating them all yourself, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I had to buy the good stuff. And thus, since we only had 4 trick-or-treater groups (for a grand total of around 12 kids?), we have extras, and I've been eating them. But sparingly--just 1 or 2 mini-Snickers per night...which is okay, right? Yum ;) SMELL: Salt, sand, + seaweed = beach days in November (!?) What a week! It was so beautiful on the Cape! Sayde and I went on a walk on the beach on Wednesday and I was literally hot. In November. It was SO wonderful and felt like such a treat because for a while there, I thought our days of beach walks were over. TOUCH: Watercolor paints I've been a watercolor fool lately. A lot of my current client work (and personal projects) involve watercolor, so I've been working with it more than ever. And I have to say, there is something really special about this medium. It's so soft and flowy--so easily moved around on the page and manipulated--but also really challenging and fickle. I just really love it. Other SJOTW? Co-teaching my Branding Essentials workshop last weekend (I love that stuff!), the aforementioned smoothest, easiest, cheapest flight experience I've ever had, watching my new tank + pullover pre-orders come in (thank you SO much to all of you who pre-ordered! It's been so exciting and I can't wait to see all of you wearing them!), and of course, the extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning ;) Looking forward to seeing some of my fave DC yogis this weekend! There's still room in my workshop at Tranquil Space Dupont on Sunday if you want to join (12:30-2:30; sign up here). Have a wonderful weekend! And don't forget to pause and reflect on the past couple of days... Comments are closed.
