This is fun! It's been forever since I wrote out/thought about my Simple Joys of the Week and I'm glad to be back at it. Plus, there are SO many simple pleasures in my life right now! Not to be annoying or corny, but just looking at Charlie Mae brings me more joy than I've ever experienced before, so that's a big one...but for the sake of this weekly column, I'll try to get more specific each week and keep things interesting by mixing it up and not just going on an on about how much I love my baby ;) So, here are a few of the things that have brought me happiness over the past week or so... HEAR: Bon Iver's new album, 22, A Million Even though I've been a bit out of the music scene lately, I was excited when my brother alerted me to the release of this new album. I've been listening to it on repeat [while working] lately and am loving it. I also added one of my favorites, "00000 Million" to this month's yoga class playlist. You can listen below: SEE: My BFF's wedding! Oh, you guys, it was SO amazing seeing my BFF Kelly get married in Chicago last weekend! As I mentioned on Wednesday, it was totally crazy to make the trip with such a young baby, but it was worth all of the insanity to be there with her and witness such a beautiful wedding. It's so moving to watch someone you love marry the person that she loves! Also, Kelly looked stunning (of course) and the decor and venue were spot on. So many happy tears! TASTE: Wedding cake Kelly's wedding cake was really, really good. In fact, it was so good that when they came around to clear the plates, Ben asked one of the servers if he could have another piece (ha!!!). When she brought it to him, she also brought an extra piece for his date (yours truly!), who gladly gobbled it up. Yay for seconds! It felt totally deserved since I wasn't able to enjoy any wine or champagne all weekend. [I know people say it's okay, but I'm too scared to do so while breastfeeding every 2 hours.] SMELL: Charlie Mae's new baby smell Sorry, I had to. That little baby smell...OMG! There is simply nothing better. At least a few times per day, I put my nose down to her head and take a big breath in through my nose. It smells like pure love, innocence, and nurturing. If I could bottle it up, I would. TOUCH: Morning snuggles with my girls As you probably saw when I posted the above pic to social media recently, we have been having some EPIC snuggle sessions over at our house lately. Each morning, after her AM feeding, Charlie Mae usually falls back asleep on me and I use this as time to get another hour or so myself (hooray!). I usually place her in the bed next to me, and wouldn't you know it, when I do, Sayde likes to slither up from under the covers and take her place right in between the two of us. It's the sweetest thing *ever* to see both of my girls sleeping side by side. I could go on and on with the simple joys these days, but I'll leave it at that for now ;) What brought you joy over the past week? Take some time to pause and reflect today, if you can... Have a wonderful weekend! PS. Just one more weekend to place your holiday custom art orders!! Details here. And stay tuned...my newest holiday cards + gifts/products will be announced soon!
