A few of the simple pleasures that brought me joy this week... HEAR: Garth Stevenson Okay, so I'm embarrassed about this, but somehow I had never heard about Garth Stevenson until recently. And, um, his music is PERFECT for yoga classes. Like, perfect. It's moody, it's mostly instrumental, it's powerful, and it's just plain beautiful. You guys, how did you let me go so long without knowing about him!?!? You can listen to "Horizon," the first song on my November playlist, below: SEE: The Sopranos A few weekends ago, Ben and I took some time to choose a new show for the winter (we always have to have one going). A lot of our faves will be picking back up again soon, but we needed something to bridge the gap. So, after lots of healthy debate, we settled on The Sopranos, which I have never seen and felt I should. Let me tell you, we're only about 5 episodes in, and WOW. I knew it was good and I knew people loved it, but I had no idea how much I would love it. We are seriously in the golden age of television, people! TASTE: Coconut Flakes If there's one thing in our pantry that I enjoy every single day and will probably always love, it's coconut flakes. I eat them in my oatmeal, in my quinoa (add some seasoning, a little lime spritz, shredded coconut, and voila!), in my protein bites/no-bake energy bites, and if I wasn't already adding them to everything else, I would probably enjoy them by the spoonful. It's silly that I've never mentioned them before, but they're such a staple that I think I overlooked them. Big SJOTW. *Oh, and I should mention that you need to be careful when buying them because a lot of coconut flakes are sweetened. I go for Bob's Red Mill Unsweetened Flaked Coconut. SMELL: New "Love & Toast" Perfume I've been wanting a "signature scent" for a while now, but have never been a big perfume person and didn't really want to just go to a store and smell 500 chemical-filled perfumes until I couldn't tell them apart. Then, last weekend, I went to an event at Shift Eco-Boutique (you may remember when I profiled the owner), and I found an eco-friendly/natural ingredient-filled perfume that I adore. I was so thrilled! I wore it on Sunday without mentioning it to Ben, and after giving me a hug he said, "Why do you smell so amazing today?" Score. TOUCH: Sunny fall day on the beach... Do I even need to explain? We've got a cold front moving in today, but yesterday I snuck off to the beach to walk Sayde and it was perfect--warm, sunny, breezy, and gorgeous. It felt so amazing and as usual, put everything into perspective. #grateful Also, another big SJOTW is that we *may* have found our house (!!). But, because there are still many items that need to come together before we can actually call it ours--and something could easily fall through--I'm going to save that one for later, when it's real. {*Fingers crossed*} Lastly, I'm off to Kripalu today! I'll be attending a weekend for teachers with Kula Yoga director + founder (and Wanderlust co-creator) Schuyler Grant. Kula Flow is a type of vinyasa yoga known for it's "intelligent and creative sequencing" (hooray!) and Grant has been called the go-to teacher for advanced level practice by The NYT. I'm nervous and excited and will be sure to share what I learn with you! That being said, there will be no Roundup tomorrow. Have a wonderful weekend, bloggies! Soak it up and don't forget to reflect on your SJOTW today ;) Be back Monday! I was reading your post quite fast and thought "I wonder what instrumental powerful songs Garth Brooks has that would work for yoga? Let's checker out!" So about 25 secs into Horizon I thought "This sounds a lot like Garth Stevenson!..." DUH. :) Glad you found him. Southern Sea is the most beautiful song for savansa!

HAHAHA! I just realized that I never responded to this, Wendy, and I love it! The whole thread ;) That would be amazing if Garth Brooks had a good savasana song--I would TOTALLY use it ;)

I love these SJOTW posts - I really need to start practicing this myself. The perfume sounds lovely; which scent did you go with? And i LOVE coconut in allllllll the things, too. :)
