This week was SO full of simple, sensory joys! Even though it was rainy + cold, I was inundated with work, and our washer broke in the middle of my doing a big load of clothes from my trip to DC [I spent the next 30 minutes squeezing out each item of sopping wet clothing, one piece at a time, and then drying them in small batches], I still enjoyed so many little moments of pleasure.
From all of the amazing people I saw on my quick jaunt to our Nation's Capitol, to a Veteran's Day brunch with Ben, to cold weather snuggles with Sayde, it was simply a great week. What brought you joy over the past 7 days? Can you find some time today to reflect and identify your favorite sensory experiences? I hope so. You can view some of mine below... HEAR: Women of the Hour = Lena Dunham's new podcast (!) As you know, I'm a big fan of Lena Dunham. I love the way she looks at the world, her sense of humor, her honesty, and her brand of modern feminism. Thus, I am obviously a fan of her new podcast, which is just 2 episodes in but is already a favorite. Check it out! SEE: Alanis Morissette Updates 'Ironic' Lyrics One of my first concerts was Alanis Morissette (I went with my dad for my birthday in 5th grade), so she holds a special place in my heart. Thus, you won't be surprised that I got a huge kick out of this updated duet of 'Ironic' that she did with James Cordon. I mean, hysterical! My favorite part: "It's a free ride, when your Uber's down the street." Priceless. TASTE: Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Cookies from Whole Foods O. M. G. Want to taste the best cookie of your life? Go buy these cookies from Whole Foods ASAP. Last weekend in DC, my friend (and Starr Struck colleague) Sara pulled them out--she had tried them at a kid's event at WF and instantly fallen in love, too--and I was blown away by how delicious they were/are. Dangerously seasonal + tasty. SMELL: Homemade [scented] candles In another fun DC trip moment, Sara taught me how to make soy candles. We used colored mason jars, cream-colored wax, and two amazing scents (vanilla balsam fir + a citrusy lavender), and it was really fun. The process of making them was fairly easy, really interesting, and of course, smelled divine. Plus, the finished products are really pretty! TOUCH: Sweet little kid hugs Little hugs from tiny little hands + arms are one of the most precious things ever. On Sunday night when I said my goodbyes to my 3 fave children in DC, I got a lot of sweet little hugs and snuggles, and they simply melted my heart. Love those DC babes and miss them already! ...And there you have it! Another week has come and gone. I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of simple pleasures! I'm heading to a workshop with the incredible Erica Mather tonight, but tomorrow we'll be raking [wet] leaves and waiting around for our new washer + dryer to be delivered (#adulting). Hope to find some time for sipping vino by the fire, as well... Comments are closed.
