It's Friday again! How was your week? Mine was a weird one since I spent Sunday night + Monday crazy sick with the stomach bug, but once things got back on track it was good (and fast, as usual).
I have to say upfront that my biggest simple joy *by far* was regaining my health after being as sick as I was earlier this week. I was just amazed by how incredible it felt to feel 'normal' again! Ben felt the same way (he was also sick) and we couldn't stop talking about how thankful we are for our health. In that way, being sick is a great reminder/perspective-shifter. Anyways, here are a few more things that brought me joy over the past 7 days... HEAR: Music, speeches, vows = wedding stuff ;) I love weddings! You know this by now. And at last weekend's wedding (read more about it here), even though I was slightly distracted by Charlie Mae, I loved hearing all of the fun music, the live first dance song sung by the Bride's talented cousin, the sweet, funny speeches, and the lovely words spoken during the ceremony. I love love and I love weddings and it all makes me so happy. SEE: Charlie Mae walking everywhere I didn't mention it in last week's SJOTW so I need to mention it here: Charlie Mae started walking late last week! She's still a bit of a wobbly, Drunken Sailor, but she's obsessed with practicing and so are we. It's precious seeing how excited and proud she is every time that she strings together a bunch of steps, and I love watching her get back up over and over again after she falls, saying "more!!!!" and pushing back up to standing. So special. TASTE: Ritz Crackers {my first food after being sick for 24-ish hours} Nothing has EVER tasted as good as the Ritz Crackers that I ate after being sick. When you've had no appetite for a long time despite being starving, it feels incredible to finally have an appetite and be able to keep something down. I could have eaten those crackers forever. SMELL: Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup Ben had the idea to have this warm, seasonal treat for dinner a few nights this week and he was spot-on. From the scent of the meal cooking (Ben made it for us, of course) to the actual taste of the meal, it was such a simple joy. I told Ben it was the best Grilled Cheese I've ever had and I meant it. I know Grilled Cheese is meant to be the easiest meal that no one can screw up, but I now believe that there is an art to making a really good one and Ben has perfected it ;) TOUCH: Pedicure I got my first pedicure in forever yesterday and it felt so good! First I went to an awesome Barre Bootcamp class {shout-out Wellbeloved Wellness} and then I popped into a nearby nail salon; I brought my laptop and worked while I sat in a massage chair getting my toes done. Self-employment for the win! And there you go. I hope you can find some time to reflect on your simple, sensory joys of the week today, too, and that your weekend is *full* of them. Have a good one! I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at my workshop on Saturday :) Comments are closed.
