Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone! Exciting, isn't it? For us here on the Cape, this is the start of the crazy tourist season-- the first weekend that traffic is bad, yoga classes are packed, and restaurant waits get super long again--but there's definitely a summertime energy in the air and it's really fun ;)
How was your week? Mine was a whirlwind, but luckily, I still found time to enjoy lots of simple, sensory joys (of course). Here's what brought me happiness over the past 7 days... [Oh, and I should mention that my BIGGEST joy from the past week was spending time with all of my besties in Chicago last weekend, but since I've already told you about that, I'm leaving it off of this list of smaller, simpler joys...] HEAR: Second City performance + songs Second City was SOOOOOO good! I mean, amazing. It's obvious why almost every SNL-er and comedian is an alum of this place. If you're in Chicago any time soon, I highly recommend you check it out [we saw a show called "A Red Line Runs Through It," which was great]. SEE: My new tanks (they're in!) My latest tank design just came in yesterday and I was so excited to see them in-person! They're super cute, if I do say so myself ;) If you pre-ordered one, it will be on it's way to you ASAP, and if you didn't order one, don't worry--you can still snag one of the *few* remaining tops HERE. TASTE: Two incredible restaurants in Chicago, Quartino + Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba Another Chicago shout-out, but I have to, because the food I ate there was SO good. In fact, I didn't have a single meal that wasn't totally delicious the entire time I was traveling. On both nights of the Bach party, we went to restaurants that serve small, shared plates--Quartino, an Italian restaurant, and Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, a tapas restaurant--and both were out of this world. SMELL: Blooming Lilacs One of my students brought me lilacs from her garden this week and my goodness, do they smell incredible. They've been sitting on our table all week and every time I walk by them, I breathe in deeply and just bask in the scent. Ahhhh. TOUCH: More baby gear... Sorry I'm not sorry, but I have a feeling that baby stuff is going to continue making a regular appearance on SJOTW for quite a while. Not only did my friends give me some of the sweetest little outfits and baby books at my surprise shower last weekend, but we also received more gifts from them in the mail this week--including our stroller and portable bassinet, both of which I put together right away (because I was so excited). With every item that we receive, this whole baby things gets more and more real...eek! [Btw, I'm 28 weeks right now, in case you were wondering.] OTHER SJOTW? Enjoying the first real summery days here on the Cape (it was 83 degrees yesterday!), doing a home practice on the back deck in the sunshine, reading a good book on the plane, walking around Chicago in the sunshine, and reuniting with Sayde (and Ben) after being away for a couple of days. So there you have it! I hope you can find the time to stop and reflect on your simple joys of the week today, too. Oh, and if you're local, I'm teaching a special, donation-based class this Saturday from 6-7:15pm: the class will benefit Flying Kites, an organization that is focused on igniting the potential of orphaned and critically-poor children in Kenya, and it will take place at Power Yoga of Cape Cod Dennisport. Sign up here and donate at the door. There will also be free food + adult beverages available after ;) Enjoy your holiday weekend, everyone! PS. I'm taking Memorial Day off of blogging and will be back with the last episode of Season #3 of Starr Struck Radio on Tuesday... 5/30/2016 03:21:09 am
