Big week for this girl! Got a new apartment, began preparing for a trip to NYC for training next week, booked a flight home to ATL the week after, taught and took many yoga classes, and dodged the rainstorms that have overtaken DC for the past 5 days. This weekend: teaching Friday and Saturday and then off to an overnight teacher retreat in WV! So, yeah, there's lots of traveling in my near future :) But, as I made it through the hustle of the week I was till able to enjoy a number of simple, sensory pleasures. See how I indulged below... Disclaimer: This week the senses are all messed up. I basically put things wherever I wanted to because I just wanted to share! I know, not as nicely organized as this post usually is, but please excuse me, I'm a bit discombobulated this month :) ![]() Hear: Bossypants by Tina Fey I know, you can't hear a book. BUT, when reading this book (which I finished yesterday), it feels like you're listening to Tina Fey talk--like you're really hearing her speak, so it works. Plus, it's hilarious, so I guess it could also be that I've heard the sound of myself laughing out loud MULTIPLE times this week as I read this book. If you haven't read it and like Tina Fey even the slightest bit, you should read it. I already loved her, but after reading this book I love her even more and I feel like we're best friends because I know so much more about her now. She is so down-to-earth and her self-deprecating humor is priceless. Read it now! ![]() Our new floorplan! Notice--two balconies AND an extra room! Amazing. Taste: Our new apartment I'm so close to living in Arlington that I can taste it...just another month and 1/2 and my life will change 4EVER...well, not forever, but for the forseeable future, and it will be great. I am just SO excited about walking to work (and to teach) at TSA that I can't even believe it. I know I'm exaggerating in my mind, but I feel like my life will become exponentially easier once we move in--I'm imagining hours and hours of free time to do whatever my heart desires...but, even if it doesn't change that much, at least we'll have a DOOR separating our bedroom from our living/dining room this time around :) ![]() See: Spoils from my Tarjay shopping trip I went to Target today to get a few things for the studio, but since I haven't been there in so long, I ended up making a major detour to do a little bit of shopping for yours truly. I picked up two new swimsuits, some fun, colorful sports bras, some summery, plastic tumblers (in my opinion one can NEVER have enough big, plastic cups!), a cute journal, and this Buddha statue. It's the same exact one that we have in the front of the studio at TSA, and when I saw it I knew I just HAD to have one for our new apartment. What a wonderful thing to bring into our new home! Plus, every time I look at it I will be reminded of the studio and immediately transported to a tranquil, relaxed, post-savasana state of mind. ![]() Touch: Mani/pedi with fave new color for spring/summer After a long winter of "Lincoln Park After Dark" (my go-to winter shade), I've made the switch to OPI's "Funky Donkey" as my new summer color. In preparation for my upcoming weeks of travel, I treated myself to a mani/pedi today, and decided to go for this color again (got it on my toes last time). For some reason, this color just makes me really happy. It's funky enough to be a bit different than the normal pinks and reds of summer (or pastels of spring), but it's not too out there and works well with my pasty skin, hehe :) And yes, the mani/pedi felt amazing, as did the massage chair that I'm also obsessed with...yay for self care! * As a side note, this color is from OPI's Shrek Forever Collection...um, what? Yeah, super-crazy but fun! ![]() Smell: Herban Essentials Yoga Towlettes When I graduated from Teacher Training, my amazing mentor, Siobhan, gifted each of us with a goody bag full of teaching supplies. One of the items that she included were these yoga towelettes...not only do they smell AMAZING, but they're also 100% pure, therapeutic grade pressed essential oils, are cruelty-free, and they "make a constant effort to obtain organic, wild-grown oils from American farmers whenever possible." They're perfect for a quick pick-me up after a sweaty class, or as one of my fellow teachers recommends, to wipe down your feet before class if you've been wearing flats all day. A great thing to throw into your purse (beats wet wipes any day!). So, now that you've seen mine, think back on your week--what's brought you simple, sensory joy? Happy Friday and namaste! Mary Catherine
I beg to differ. You CAN hear a book.

a) New apartment? Wahoo! b) Love the nail color (and the name) c) Tina Fey = hilarious. Simple joy of the week: the sound of waves crashing on the shore - the serenity that accompanies it is something too many take for granted. Comments are closed.
