What a week! It was an exhausting one, that's for sure, but also a wonderful one in so many ways. I got to see my family in GA. Charlie Mae and I got to spend lots of quality time together. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous (if not a bit unseasonably hot!), and I've been working on some really fun work projects.
The not so fun part of the week? Ben had to spend it on Martha's Vineyard for work, so I've been living the life of a single parent since Monday (he got home last night); let me tell you, parenting a baby alone is HARD. I have so much love and respect for those doing this challenging job solo. Wow. How has your week been? Have you been able to enjoy some sunshine? Can you make some time to reflect on your simple joys today? Mine are below, but I should note that since I've already shared some of my favorite scenes + moments from my trip to GA, and since my trip was full of big joys and was not that simple (ha!), this collection of simple pleasures focuses on some of my non-trip-related experiences... HEAR: Hamilton Soundtrack I hate to even admit it, but until this week, I had never listened to this soundtrack. I also haven't seen the musical yet, which makes me super sad, especially because I saw Lin-Manuel Miranda's first Tony-winning musical, In the Heights, twice back when I lived in NYC and it is my favorite musical of all time. So, I finally listened to this soundtrack while painting yesterday and was [of course] blown away by how good it is. Now I just need to see the show! Someday... SEE: Charlie Mae's new developments Charlie Mae is exploding with new developments right now. She's started waving, pulling up, reaching for people, making noises that *definitely* sound like words and that we're thinking are words (but are nervous to call "first words" just yet...), and is super close to crawling, but is still mostly inching herself backward by pushing with her arms. It is simply amazing to watch her develop in front of our very eyes. TASTE: Hard-boiled eggs I know this sounds boring, but I made what might have been my second [ever] batch of hard-boiled eggs this week because I was jonesing for a new, healthy, protein-packed snack and Ben wasn't around to cook all of our food like he usually does (haha). I've been snacking on them all week and they've been such an easy thing to grab for! I tried giving Charlie Mae a tiny bit of egg white, but she literally gagged and threw up when she tried it. The girl is pretty dramatic when she doesn't like a new food ;) SMELL: Sayde, after being away from her for a few days I know that this has been a SJOTW before, but I can't help it, I have to include it again: I love how Sayde smells SO much! And after being in GA and not seeing her for a few days, her snuggles and scent have been wonderful to have back in my life this week. She's the best. I really missed her. TOUCH: Haircut + "beachy waves" styling by the one and only Kate Scott I got my hair cut yesterday and since it was super hot outside and my stylist, Kate, has observed "that [I] don't tend to take the time to style and dry [my] hair very often these days" (ha!), she recommended teaching me how to style it so that it air dries with non-frizzy, beachy waves. Um, yes please! So we did that and wouldn't you know, it was super easy and I really liked how it looked. Yay! The perfect mom-do for summer. So there you go! As usual, I'm feeling so thankful for all of these simple, sensory pleasures :) Last note before I sign off and jump into the day: tonight is my last workshop before the summer hits! There are still a few spaces left in my Slow Down, Restore, + Recharge Workshop at Centerville Yoga and Wellness Center from 6-8pm {sign up here}. It's a slow flow and restorative yoga workshop and I'd love to see you there. Enjoy your weekend, everyone! Comments are closed.
