A few of the simple, sensory pleasures that have brought me joy over the past week...
HEAR: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Theme Song Okay, so a quick google showed me that I'm not the only one who can't get this song out of my head--it is SO catchy! Have you been watching UKS? If so, what do you think? Pretty fun, funny, easy watching for an exhausted Friday night, if you ask me. I finished Season 1 last weekend (while Ben slept next to me on the couch, of course!), and it made me once again feel thankful for the power that is Tina Fey. You can listen to/watch the theme song below: SEE: Virtual Baby Shower festivities! On Sunday, my friends and I threw a "Surprise Virtual Baby Shower" for one of my BFFs who is due in early July. Because a few of us live really far away, we planned a surprise shower with the help of two in-person representatives + Google Hangout. Although I would have loved to be there in person, I was very thankful that technology enabled us to be there and watch her open presents, play silly baby games, etc. TASTE: Homemade pancakes As you may have heard on this week's podcast episode, Ben made homemade pancakes for Mother's Day (for his mom, who we hosted for brunch, not for me)! He used this recipe and they were DELICIOUS. It had been a long time since we'd last enjoyed pancakes in our household, so we both *may* have overindulged a bit [aka, food coma for the rest of the day]. Yum! SMELL: Lavender Essential Oil A fellow teacher (shout-out Leigh!) used regular old lavender essential oil on me when she gave me a savasana assist earlier this week, and I was blown away by the smell. Don't get me wrong--I use lavender oil all the time--but usually a diluted mixture, not straight-up. After class I asked her, "What was that oil that you used on me???" And was shocked by her reply. What a scent! Must start using it as is + soaking up the amazingness without diluting. TOUCH:Bare feet outside I'd say that my feet are bare 50% of the time in the winter (when teaching/practicing yoga and when sleeping), but when warmer weather comes around, that percentage jumps up to about 95%. I hate wearing shoes and socks, so I'm thrilled that we're creeping into the season where I hardly ever have to. I've been walking around the yard with bare feet and it's been glorious! What made you smile over the past 7 days? Take some time to stop + reflect today, if you can... A quick note: If you usually receive Starr Struck in your inbox, you haven't received it for the past week due to a technical glitch on my end (Thanks to all the sweet readers who have emailed me about it--glad you've noticed it's absence!). I've got my IT staff on it (aka me when I can find the time), and hope to have it up and running again soon. Thanks for your patience! {Sigh.} Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Oh, and if you haven't listened to this week's podcast episode, How to Make a BIG Career Change, don't forget to do so while running errands/doing household chores this weekend! We have just 2 episodes left in Season 1...

a) The Kimmy Schmidt song got stuck in my head for WEEKS after binge-watching the season one week. Hilarious -- I even had to play it for my husband just to get him to understand what I kept humming and laughing about! Comments are closed.
