You know those weeks where you feel like you've just been running around all week? From meeting to appointment to meeting to yoga class? That's how this week has been for me. Don't get me wrong, it's been a really beautiful and enjoyable week, I've just been a little all over the place and not as grounded as I'd like, so I'm looking forward to a weekend of staying close to home and getting organized again ;) How was your week? Full of simple joys, I hope? Here are some of the sensory pleasures that made me smile over the past 7 days... HEAR: "Durga Maharani" by David Newman This is a fun yoga song. It's on my May playlist (which I've finally posted, sorry for the delay!) and I've been loving hearing it in my classes so far this month. You can listen to it below: [And yes, I have still been playing Lemonade on repeat all week, in case you were wondering...] SEE: Nursery furniture Ever since we found out I was pregnant, we've been slowly pulling together furniture for the nursery. We got a secondhand dresser from a thrift store (that we've since repainted), a secondhand changing table off of a Mom's Facebook Group ($15!), a secondhand bookshelf, and a new crib. Last weekend, we painted and cleaned some of the secondhand stuff, put together the crib, and started slowly arranging these items in the nursery (that we also just painted). It was so exciting! We still need a glider and lots of decor, but we'll get there... TASTE: Ginger Lemon Iced Tea It's finally iced tea season around here! This week, for the first time this spring, I ordered an iced tea (instead of hot tea) at a local coffee shop, which to me, is a sign that it's warm + sunny outside. The tea was super refreshing and tasty, and it made me feel like summer is on the way. Hooray! SMELL: The ocean :) Again, this week it was finally warm enough for me and Sayde to sneak away and take two of our daily walks on the beach. She was THRILLED to have her paws back in the sand (kept stopping to dig and roll around) and I felt the exact same way. If there's one thing I love most about Cape Cod, it's living 5 mins from the ocean. TOUCH: Facial {at Supple Apothecary} I got my first facial in YEARS yesterday! I was given a gift certificate for this facial *forever* ago (I'm embarrassed by how long it took me to make the appointment), but it was well worth the wait and incredibly relaxing. Also, I'm glad I waited until now because my pregnant skin has been pretty crazy lately, so I'm hoping it will calm things down for a while. I must make self care like this a more regular part of my life! Other SJOTW? Taking my first Hypnobirthing class, attending a "Breathing and Relaxation" class for labor with Ben, taking an incredible yoga class yesterday (so many classes this week!), going to bed at 7:30pm Sunday night, and working outside on the back porch on Wednesday afternoon. I hope you can find some time to reflect back on your simple joys of the week, too. Doing so always leaves me feeling super grateful for this life I'm living :) Have a wonderful weekend. See some of you at my workshop tonight! 5/13/2016 10:08:42 am
We did hypnobirthing! It helped tremendously, esp since my birth didn't go the way I wanted it too. I was able to stay calm and handle the pain much longer than I thought I ever could. It is also a great combo to your yoga training.

Oh good, so glad to hear this, Andrea! I've heard it's a great compliment to yoga so that's why I'm doing it (and so far, so good!). Sorry your birth didn't go the way you wanted it too--that seems to be a theme for SO many people; I guess it's just another byproduct of the fact that we have *no* control over labor and delivery. Sigh. Thanks for sharing! xoxo
