Happy Friday, everyone! I'm going to try and keep today's SJOTW super short + sweet because Charlie Mae and I are jetting off to Atlanta for a long weekend (+ our very first solo flight) in just a few hours.
The bad news about this trip? Charlie Mae has another ear infection and I have an itchy rash on my face (sexy, I know). The good news? We're both on meds for our ailments, so I'm hoping we'll get better soon. PLUS, we get to see my family in Atlanta, go to a poetry reading my dad is doing on Saturday, and spend Mother's Day with my mom and grandmothers, which will be *quite* special and worth any hellish sick baby flight issues we might encounter {knock on wood x 1000000}. So, lets get to our simple joys! Here's what made me happy over the past week... HEAR: Missing Richard Simmons Podcast Have you listened to this popular podcast yet? I just started it this week and am addicted. I can't wait until I have more time to keep listening and find out what has happened to Richard Simmons (that is, if we do eventually find out...)! I'm on episode 3 of 6 and it's fascinating. SEE: Big Little Lies (the series on HBO) Welp, this is another simple joy to file under "entertainment-thing-I-started-and-am-loving-but-am-having-a-hard-time-finding-the-time-to-finish." Again, it's really good and I can't wait to continue watching once my child is well and I can find a bit more time in the evenings! That being said, I read the book a few years ago and loved it, so at least I know what happens in the end ;) TASTE: Fresh Mango For some reason, we never bought fresh mango until Charlie Mae came along. But now that we're making all of our own baby food and trying to introduce her to new tastes all the time, mango has become a staple in our house. And let me tell you: it is DELICIOUS. I've always been a dried mango fan, but now I'm a total fresh mango lover, too! Yummy. SMELL: Brunch Last weekend, we made some time to go out to brunch as a family and it was really nice. Don't you just love the morning and breakfast scents at your favorite brunch spot? Shout-out to one of our local faves, Spoon & Seed! TOUCH: Aloe Vera Gel Lame as this is, I have to go with it because when you have a rash on your face, there's nothing quite like a little refrigerated aloe to make it feel better. See how I did that...turned a nasty negative into a semi-positive/simple joy? Haha ;) So there you go! That's it for this week. What brought you joy over the past 7 days? Take some time to reflect today, if you can...even if [and especially if] your week was kind of a hot mess like mine was ;) Have a lovely weekend (+ keep your fingers crossed for us as we travel, please!)! Also, a very happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mothers out there. If you want a good laugh, here's a great article to read about this "holiday."

A very Happy First Mother's Day to you! I wish you the most special of days. I am so delighted that you and Charlie Mae will be with your family to celebrate this momentous occasion. Thank-you for another entertaining SJOTW - fresh mangoes are the best! Comments are closed.
