A few of the simple, sensory pleasures that brought me joy this past week... HEAR: "Microlite" by Trophy Wife This song is on my new March Playlist, and I've been loving it when it comes on in class. I found Trophy Wife (what a name, huh?) through a random search--never heard of them before--and for some reason, this song just works for me. You can listen below and can check out my newest playlist here. SEE: Kitchen nook/bar coming together... Our kitchen "breakfast bar" and stools arrived on Monday, and Ben and I eagerly put them together that evening--we were SO ready to see at least one of our rooms start taking shape! We still have to paint the rest of the cabinet doors, change the light fixture, and put down the kitchen rug (on it's way), but it was great to see this nook start coming together... Sidenote: I took a sneak peek at some of the survey results that have been coming in, and I see that many of you *really* want some house before + after pics (stat!). Pinkie promise, they're coming soon! Just hard to share an "after" pic when it's not really "after" yet...ya know? But I'm dying to share with you and def will very soon! TASTE: Green & Black Mint Dark Chocolate Me-oh-my, this chocolate is GOOD. I've always been a minty chocolate girl, and this bar is perfect because just a small square (or three?) is enough to cleanse the palette and provide that [healthier-ish] sweet treat after a meal. Remember when I was off of all sugar for a while? Don't miss those days at all ;) SMELL: Art Supplies (paint) I finally got back to painting this week, and I painted for the first time in my new studio! It was only for a few hours, but it was great, as I'd been on a little (unintentional) painting sabbatical since before we moved and I'd packed up all of my supplies in boxes. Commissions that are due in April, here I come! I'll be painting again this afternoon and I'm excited. TOUCH: New living room rug under my tootsies Searching for the "perfect" rug for our living room was a challenge. I couldn't spend the $500+ that most of the rugs I actually liked cost, but also couldn't find anything more affordable that was my style. Then, I finally found this rug! It's perfect for the grey + white theme in our living room, it's handmade, and it doesn't look cheap. It arrived Wednesday and I couldn't be more happy with it. Now we just need to get the rest of the room up to par... Other SJOTW? Well, if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw all of my fire pics yesterday, because that late-afternoon, snowy day fire was a big one. Also, did you see Christina Aguilera sing "This Little Piggy" as Britney on Jimmy Fallon? Another great moment. What brought you joy this week? Hope you can find some time to reflect on your SJOTW today... Oh, and if you haven't filled out my 2015 Reader Survey yet, will you? Details here. Thanks so much to everyone who has already done so :) Have a great Friday!

i'm curious...how do you as a couple agree on style and decor for the home? did you clash on color choices etc at all? i find that boys tend to love dark colors and dark wood (WHY???) and while us girls tend to go for a more bright and airy feel. i love the look of your place already-i think painting the kitchen cabinets in a great idea!

Great question, Jenny! Yes, I agree, guys do tend to go for the darker wood and ladies the lighter color. Luckily, Ben kind of defers to me on all things decor, and usually likes what I pick out. Comments are closed.
