Another week, another round o' simple joys! This week has been a weird one for me; I've been freaked out about politics and what's happening in our country, I continue to be plagued by incredibly powerful pregnancy exhaustion (I'm over 16 weeks now; the babe is the size of an avocado!), and I've been struggling with some "wicked" [as they say here in NE] headaches. Buuuut, despite all of that, it was still a really great week and I feel so grateful for all the good in it. I guess that's the magic of gratitude, isn't it? It just makes everything better. So, here are some of the simple, sensory joys that brought me happiness this week. What made you smile? HEAR: "Let the Sun Shine Through" by Avasa & Matty Love As you know by now, new month = new yoga class playlist. I put this song on my March class playlist and I just love it! It feels so appropriate for the spring, it's so uplifting, and it just makes me feel a little lighter every time it comes on. You can listen below: SEE: New area rug in the guest bedroom Our new + improved guest bedroom (we've been doing lots of room switcheroos) is almost done! We just have to put up one last wall hanging and move a few pieces of furniture around and it will be finished! But the most exciting part was receiving the new area rug that I ordered for the room this week. I wasn't sure if it would be right, but it's PERFECT in every way. I'm thrilled! Don't you just love it when something you order actually looks like the pic and is even better quality than you had imagined? Score. TASTE: Homemade orange "sorbet" As I've mentioned before, I'm trying to eat dessert/sweets only once per week while pregnant. This has been *quite* HARD at times, but this week Sara shared a few healthy recipes for treats that I can make using our new Vitamix. One of those recipes was orange sorbet made of just 2 oranges + 3 cups of ice. In a moment of desperation, I made it after dinner on Wednesday night, and it was delicious! Plus, it made enough that I was able to put a bunch in the freezer to enjoy later. Thank goodness! SMELL: Multigrain bagels [from Jo Mama's here on Cape Cod] Last weekend I was craving a bagel like woah. We live pretty far away from the best bagel place on the Cape now (used to be in our neck of the woods, but since we moved it's not anymore...), so I was out of luck. But then on Tuesday, as I was headed to teach and drove by said bagel place, I realized that I had a few extra minutes to spare--so I swerved into the parking lot and purchased a half-dozen; 3 everything for Ben, 3 multigrain for me. To say they've been a treat this week is an understatement. TOUCH: Long walks in the sunshine + playing with Sayde outside I know I keep talking about spring, but SPRING! It's here (kind of/almost!)! We had a few warmer, sunny, gorgeous days here this week and Sayde and I *loved* it. We had some epic ball-playing sessions in the backyard (in the sun) and some great walks, and I have to say, she was just as energized by the Vitamin D as I was. It was a lovely weather week here. Other SJOTW? Getting back to therapy (more on that soon), *almost* finishing painting our bedroom last weekend (we ran out of paint on the last small wall!), catching up with good friends on the phone, sleeping in on Sunday, and of course, Sayde snuggles up the wazoo. Hope your week consisted of many simple joys, too, and that you find the time to reflect on them today... Have a wonderful weekend! Comments are closed.
