Ugh, we've been sick around here this week and it hasn't been fun. It makes sense: Charlie Mae started part-time daycare last week and had never been around other kids/germs before, so of course she would get sick immediately and bring it home/spread it around to everyone in the fam. Even Sayde has been sneezing a bit more than usual this week (although she's a big sneezer to begin with, so it's hard to tell how many extra sneezes it would take to declare her sick with a doggy cold...). However, the good news is that Charlie Mae is now on antibiotics for an ear infection (poor girl!), I'm on antibiotics for a sinus infection (poor me!), Ben has gotten by without needing meds (typical, but I'm happy for him of course!), and I think we're all on the upswing. Phew. I'd forgotten how crappy it feels to feel crappy and didn't know how hard it is to take care of someone else who is sick [and thus, get no sleep] when you're sick. Bleh. Buuuuuttttt (and you knew it was coming), all of that being said, I *still* have a lot to be grateful for this week! Here are a few of my simple, sensory joys from the past 7 days... HEAR: Hey World (Don't Give Up Version) by Michael Franti & Spearhead I don't like saying this because I think it's kind of mean, but usually, Michael Franti's music kind of annoys me. I don't know why, but it does (just a little bit). Then I heard this song, and although it's sad, I think it's also uplifting and I love the message that we shouldn't give up on our world, even if it is a mess. Anyways, I put it on my March playlist and I really love hearing it when I'm teaching. You can listen below: SEE: Season 6 of GIRLS Oh my, I haven't watched any TV in months--probably since I was on maternity leave back in September/October?--and this week, when I was feeling too sick to do anything else and Charlie Mae was sleeping, I finally watched the first few episodes of this season of GIRLS. I know the characters are super flawed and often super annoying, but I love them anyway and I love the writing and how Lena Dunham's voice/sense of humor comes through in almost every line. I'm going to continue to savor this last season and will be really sad when it's over. TASTE: Herbal Cough Drops When you're sick and your taste buds are out of commission, there's not much that "tastes" better than a cough drop. It's incredible how much they help a sore, scratchy, coughy throat! I'm very grateful for these little "treats" (ha!) this week. SMELL: Rosemary Mint Epsom Salt Bath On Tuesday night when I had a fever and crazy chills and pain [which was a blast, let me tell you!], I got in a hot Rosemary Mint Epsom Salt bath and it was divine. Even though I wasn't feeling great, I was still able to get a little relief from the scent and overall sensory experience of this bath--and that's what I call a SJOTW ;) TOUCH: LulaRoe Leggings Okay, so maybe I'm WAYYYY behind here (I think I definitely am), but I recently purchased my first pair of LulaRoe leggings from a "Facebook LulaRoe party" and now I see why people get so addicted to them. They really are insanely comfortable and feel like butter--just like everyone says they do! Also, I really do think they're cute and have super fun patterns. I'm not going to go crazy on them, but love wearing my new pair and think they'll be a great piece as we move into spring. [Please note: I'm the WORST at selfies and I know you can't see the pattern or color of my leggings at all in the pic above. Oh well, I tried. I promise to do better next time...] What brought you joy over the past week? I hope the last 7 days have been full of simple pleasures and have included way less tissues and Neti pot uses than mine have. And I hope that you can find some time to reflect on your SJOTW today, too. Enjoy this last weekend in March (whhaaattttttttt??????)!

I started watching GIRLS from season 1 just a few months ago and completely fell in love with it. Love the writing, the characters - I love how raw, real, and awkward they are. I am going to be so sad when it is over!

I hope that Charlie Mae and you are getting better. Daycare is a great experience, but brings some unwanted gifts too! My Grandson brought home pink-eye the first week and he only goes part-time. Last year the other little fellow I used to babysit contracted hand, foot and mouth disease that my grandson promptly caught from him ( a horror)!! Just a few things to look forward to. Dr.Teal's Eucalyptus & Spearmint is also terrific, there is a Lavender scent too! My son introduced them to me last Autumn- after I pulled the muscles, etc. in my right leg falling in the leaves at his house. I still use them because I've fallen in love with the relaxing scents! Thank-you for another entertaining SJOTW. Comments are closed.
