A few of my simple, sensory joys from the past week... HEAR: "Cold As It Is" by The Lone Bellow The Lone Bellow has a new album out! And it's great. I love this group and think you will, too. You can listen to a wonderful song from the new album below: SEE: The Snowy Beach! Sayde at the Beach! Ahhhh, Beach weather! After the worst winter I've ever lived through, it was in the 40s on both Tuesday and Wednesday (high 40s on Wednesday!) and the snow started melting. Since it was finally warm enough, I took Sayde to the beach for long walks both days, and it was INCREDIBLE. It felt like I had been in a state of seasonal depression, but didn't know until I was on the beach, walking in the sunshine. Another simple joy here? Our new house is only 5 mins from the beach! I had no idea! I'm thrilled. TASTE: Homemade Sunday Night Family Dinner Sweet Ben is very hellbent on starting a Sunday night family dinner tradition, so last weekend, we had our first family dinner guests over for a home-cooked meal. Did I think it was too much and did it stress me out to have people over on our second weekend in our new house? Yes. But did Ben pressure me into it and do all of the cooking and was it really nice and delicious and fun? Yes. *Oh, and you should know that one of Ben's rules for Sunday Night Dinners is that no condiments or dressings can be served in their regular containers. Meaning, the parmesan cheese goes in a small serving bowl (as pictured above), the salad dressing goes in a glass container, etc. He is serious about this thing. SMELL: Ginger Devotion Katalyst Kombucha I've said it before and I'll say it again--I'm in love with anything and everything ginger. That includes ginger Kombucha, and especially this brand, which is made in Western Mass. Ginger Kombucha has become one of my weekly beverage splurges (I have a few healthy bevvies that I indulge in on the regs), and I look forward to the entire sensory experience: the ginger smell, the bite, the yumminess in my belly...I know, such a yogi cliche, right? TOUCH: New throw pillow covers I am simply amazed by what throw pillow covers can do for a room. The throw pillow covers on our couches were super old and didn't match our new room/house AT ALL, but guess what? All I had to do was buy $15 covers and now we have new throw pillows that match the decor! It's amazing! Simple fixes like this make me very happy. [Next we'll have to buy new couches, but that will be a while...] What brought you joy this week? Take some time to reflect today--it's a really fun way to acknowledge the little things in life ;) I hope you have a good weekend! We've got a long list of home improvement projects to work on (and we really need to do some more unpacking at some point...), but I'm excited about it! Look for some house Before + During pics coming on Monday [finally, I know!]... 3/12/2015 11:26:15 pm
