What a great first week of June! How was your week? Did you get to enjoy lots of simple, sensory joys? I truly hope so! I spent my week trying to slowly settle back into life after being in Costa Rica, and although it was hard to not get sucked right back into the craziness, I tried my best to be patient and know that it will take some time to get caught up. In the meantime, I was able to enjoy some amazing simple pleasures; It's always nice to return to your routine and find happiness in the little things that make up your daily life, isn't it? ;) Thus, here are a few of the things that made me smile as I eased back into regular life this week... HEAR: "Awake My Body" by Alexander I made my new June playlist this week, and I think it's a pretty good one! Not my best, but definitely a solid effort ;) This song, "Awake My Body" by Alexander, is one that was recommended to me by a blog reader, and I really like it. It's not a typical yoga song, but I've been enjoying it when it comes on in class this week. What do you think? Listen below: SEE: The Story of Mr. G + Jellybean If you ever wondered if animals had thoughts, personalities, and/or formed bonds, this video will assure you that they do. It's the story of a goat named Mr. G and his dear friend, a burro named Jellybean. I won't ruin it for you, but I promise that it's worth a watch. Ben and I have watched it multiple times this week and it gets us every time ;) TASTE: Brit Tropical Fruit Candies When we were in Costa Rica, they would leave little packages of these chocolates on our beds each day. Many of us became quite addicted to them, so before we left we bought little packages as gifts for others and as gifts to ourselves. I've enjoyed two small packages since returning back to the US, and have been eyeing my 'gift' packages and trying to decide if I really need to give them to others or if I can just enjoy them myself...but good news, I found out that you can order them online with free shipping (of course). Yum! SMELL: Heaps of hairspray ;) I know this sounds like a weird simple joy, but I think you'll understand once I give you some context: On Tuesday, I participated in a photoshoot for The Current Quarterly, Cape Cod's first fashion magazine. I modeled 3 different looks, which meant that I got to have my hair styled in three different ways by an INCREDIBLE hairstylist--and she used LOTS of hairspray. The day was really fun, and although I'm no model (I didn't know what to do with my hands! They were SO in the way!), it was fun acting like one for a day. I'll be sure to share the pics and all of the credits (also an amazing makeup artist + photog!) when the magazine comes out. TOUCH: My pup's soft fur [I'm sorry, I had to!] Coming home to Ben and Sayde last Saturday night was simply amazing. I cannot tell you HOW much I missed my dog while in Costa Rica, and from what I hear, she missed me too (she was kind of on a hunger strike for the first few days, and in the words of Ben, was definitely 'on edge' while I was gone). Riding home from the airport with her cuddled in my lap, snuggling with her all week, and sleeping nose to nose in bed has been incredible. So thankful for my little dogchild! Oh, and of course I missed Ben too ;) What made you smile this week? I'd love to hear! Have a wonderful Friday and don't forget to soak it up. |
