I'm headed to Nantucket this weekend! On Sunday morning, my friend (and co-leader) Laura and I head over to the island for our first [annual?] Namaste Nantucket retreat, which we'll be leading through next Saturday. I'm thrilled! I also have about 10,000 things to check off of my to-do list between now and Sunday, but lets not dwell on that because this post is all about simple joys ;)
What brought you happiness over the past week or so? I'm sure the long weekend was full of simple pleasures, so I hope you can find some time to reflect on them today. Here are some of the small experiences that made me pause this week... HEAR: Ocean waves crashing, seagulls squawking, kids playing in the sand = first beach day of the year! As you may have heard me mention on Starr Struck Radio this week, Ben and I took a break from our house projects last weekend to head to the beach for two glorious hours of relaxation. Although I've already been to the beach for a few long walks this season, this was our first beach-chairs-and-umbrella-in-hand kind of trip, and it was beyond lovely. Every single time that I pop over to the beach on a weekend day I am overwhelmed with gratitude for this beautiful place I get to call home. SEE: New Glider for the baby's room Yep, it's time for my weekly nursery/baby stuff update: we got our glider! Since we anticipate spending lots of hours sitting in this chair and rocking our little one to sleep, we decided to go crazy and spring for the super comfy upholstered version; I'm glad to report that we're very happy with our decision because it's super comfortable (and quite pleasing to the eye, I might add!)!!! Now I just need to find a cute, colorful throw pillow for it ;) TASTE: Coconut water after a challenging Barre class Yep, simple as can be, but oh, so lovely on a hot day after a hot + sweaty fitness class. Each week, the barre classes that I've been taking since about week 12 of pregnancy get a little harder for my body, but it feels *so* good to challenge myself and enjoy a refreshing bevvie (like this week's coconut water) after class. It's been too long since I enjoyed coconut water on the regs! Need more of it in my life this summer. SMELL: Ben firing up the grill ;) Just like the rest of the country, we grilled out last weekend [and by "we," I mean Ben], and it was great. It definitely made it feel like summer is really here, and of course the scent and taste of the food was fabulous. TOUCH: Much-needed yoga classes for this pregnant body My body has been changing very rapidly lately + things are starting to feel a little out of whack and sore, so movement (yoga, barre, long walks with Sayde) had been a MUST for me. This week, the yoga classes that I took felt even better than usual, simply because they helped me work through some of these pregnancy aches and pains in this crazy new version of my body that I'm inhabiting. I'm so thankful for my practice! So there you have it. Oh, and a programming note for next week: since I'll be leading a retreat (a ton of work) and want to be as present as possible while there, I won't be blogging regularly. I hope to pop-in with a quick update post around mid-week, but otherwise, I'll be back to my regular posting schedule starting the week of the 13th. I hope you have a wonderful weekend (+ week next week) FULL of simple pleasures...
