These weeks are crazy! Anyone else feel like every time they look up, it's been another week (or month)? Eek! Like Ben said the other day, "It's basically already December." #truth
But I am so thankful for this little blog column, because if I didn't have to think about my SJOTW every Friday, I feel like I would just keep steamrolling ahead and never take the time to look back and appreciate all of the little, everyday experiences that make life so wonderful. Thus, here are a few of my simple, sensory joys from the past 7 days. What brought you happiness? HEAR: How I Built This If you like business success stories or hearing how super accomplished people got to where they are today, this is your podcast. I have been loving it so much! I started at the beginning and have been listening sequentially as I work, and find it to be really interesting and inspiring. So far, I recommend the episodes with the founders of Airbnb, Patagonia, and Spanx :) SEE: Baby playdate at the park On Monday, Charlie Mae and I met two yoga teacher friends + their little ones at the park. We're just now getting to the age (and weather) where we can more easily meet people and hang out during the day, and I love watching the babies interact and chatting with other moms. I need even more of this in my life! TASTE: Watermelon Don't you feel like watermelon = summer? I think it's one of the most seasonal treats around and eating it at lunch (and sometimes dinner) all week this week has gotten me in quite the summer mood. Also glad the one we got last weekend was so ripe and tasty! {Mealy watermelons are kind of the worst.} SMELL: Our first cookout of the season Last weekend we invited some friends over for a late afternoon BBQ on the back deck. It was the perfect evening temperature-wise, food-wise, company-wise, scent-wise (love that grill smell!) and baby-wise. I even got to drink some wine after Charlie Mae went to sleep! And we finished things off with ice cream from Four Seas, the famous ice cream spot down the road. A great sensory experience all around. TOUCH: Sore muscles + Barre Bootcamp class I got myself to a yoga class AND a Barre Bootcamp class this week, which is huge considering how challenging it's been to find the time to do much more than home practice + Momma Strong for the past few (er, 9.5?) months. The Barre Bootcamp class was super challenging but it felt *so* good to work my muscles so hard and felt even better to wake up sore this morning. Yay! And there you go. I hope you can take some time to reflect on your SJOTW today, too... Happy Father's Day to all the fathers who read this (I think you are few and far between but if you're still around, you're AWESOME). Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Comments are closed.
