Well, Friday is here and today is a big day. Why? Because we've got "Critter Control" coming to our place to figure out what has been making the loud scratching + squeaking noises in our ceiling above the kitchen table (eek!). I'm totally freaked out, but am hoping this visit will allow us to rest easier in our home moving forward... Other than that, I'm excited about this weekend, because I'm going to a fun Clothing Swap (for a cause!), attending Jacqui Bonwell's "Chakra Cleanse" workshop, teaching two yoga classes, meeting with a consulting client, AND celebrating Ben's first Doggy Dad's Day :) But as per ushe, I'm getting ahead of myself, so lets reflect on the past week before we jump into the weekend. What brought you happiness over the past 7 days? My simple, sensory joys of the week are below: HEAR: "Light on My Shoulder" by Susie Suh Although this song is on my playlist this month, I never get to hear it in class because it's the last song before savasana, and we usually get to savasana before it plays (so I skip it for my savasana song). However, in last night's class I got to hear just the beginning of it, and I thought, Wow, this song is really beautiful! I forgot! So, I wanted to share it here today, to ensure it gets heard. Ms. Suh has such a pretty voice! You can listen below: SEE: Cape Cod Summer Last weekend really and truly felt like summer on the Cape. It was the warmest weekend I've experienced here thus far, the beaches were full of people, and Ben and I went on a long bike ride--the first in which I didn't have to wear any layers. We stopped at the beach, stopped for lunch in Chatham, and thoroughly enjoyed the day outside. The only sad part? Sayde couldn't join us because she still can't really handle the little bike basket we got for her...sigh. TASTE: Homemade guacamole Ben and I hadn't made homemade guacamole in a long time, and we finally did last weekend. We made 3 avocados-worth and ate THE ENTIRE THING in one night. Whoops. But seriously, you guys, it was that good. I've shared our recipe before, but I have to say, it really comes down to the avocados, and they were perfecto last weekend. SMELL: Outdoor shower [This should really go under "TOUCH," but the experience was so sensory in so many ways that I decided to stick it here.] If you don't live on the Cape, the concept of an "outdoor shower" may be foreign to you--I know it was for me. Basically, it's a shower outside that is enclosed, has hot water, has a shower caddy full of all of your fave shower items, and is used during the summer as your actual shower. Cool, right? We got ours turned on this week and I've been taking showers outside now, and it is GLORIOUS. I mean, glorious. The fresh, cool air, the hot water, the birds chirping and the sun shining while you wash your hair--what an experience! TOUCH: Finishing my SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) painting Waaaayyyy back in January, I was given a Stand-Up Paddleboard to paint for a group here on the Cape that teaches SUP yoga. It was a blank slate--primed and ready to go--and they asked for me to complete it by May. 'No worries,' I thought, 'That's plenty of time!' But, life got ahead of me, and I still wasn't finished with the board when I received an email last week saying they were going to come pick it up. Oops! So, I hustled to finish and banged it out in a couple of days. And when I finally handed off the finished product on Wednesday, it felt good! And it was actually really fun to paint :) You can check out the full board below: Other simple joys? Orange is the New Black is back (!!!), Google Hangout with my friends, THIS Vine video (watched it about 10 times), our second outdoor bbq, lots of Sayde snuggles, and yummy yoga classes.
What are your SJOTW? Worth reflecting on today...
