These days, I'm extra grateful for Friday. Not because it means the week is over, because I love my weeks and my weekends are usually pretty full, too, but because it's my one day off from teaching per week right now (Not what I recommend to other teachers, but do as I say, not as I do, right?) and by the time it comes along, I need a day off. Again, let me be clear: This relief is not because I don't adore teaching, but because I'm usually bone tired and sick of hearing myself talk by Fridays. Every once in a while I need at least 24 hours in a row during which I don't have to hear myself cue Warrior 2, don't have to go anywhere, and don't have to brush my hair if I don't want to, ya know!?!? So, Friday, YAY! Here we are. And here are some of my simple, sensory pleasures from the past week... HEAR: New Flo Album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful {Flo = Florence + The Machine. I can call her that because we're BFFs. In my dreams. Our other BFF is T. Swift.} Have you heard this new album yet? It's great, obviously. I've been listening while working all week, and I'm really loving it. Also I just read that it hit #1 on the Billboard chart this week, so I guess I'm not the only one who is loving it ;) You can listen to one of my faves, "Third Eye" (Perfect for a yogi!), below: SEE: Bright. Red. Front. Door. I am obsessed. I know I've already gone on and on about our new front door, but OMG, I just love it so much! I simply cannot believe that adding a bit of red paint transformed a door that I hated into something that I adore so much. Every time I've walked by the house or turned into the driveway this week, I've experienced a big rush of excitement about the door. That's a true simple joy ;) TASTE: Unsweetened iced tea + lemon Although I'm from GA, I've never been a sweet tea girl. It's just too sweet. Unsweetened iced tea, though? That's my jam. Er, tea. I love it. And it was *just* hot enough this week to sit on the back porch and sip on iced tea--with a wedge of lemon, of course--while I worked. Hellooooo, summer! SMELL: Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing You all know about Ben's salad dressing making abilities, don't you? He's seriously the best homemade salad dressing creator around. This week, he made some of his famous [not creamy, olive oil based] Caesar dressing and it was to die for. Did we both smell like garlic for days? Perhaps. But it was worth it. TOUCH: Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum I love this stuff! I've only been using it a week, but it feels like it's working ("Brightens, tightens, and smoothes the skin while reducing the effects of photoaging!"). Have you seen Mad Hippie's products around? They sell them at Whole Foods (among other places) and I think I'm a convert. They're natural skincare products and honestly, their branding won me over because it's just so cute. I'm at a bit of a skincare crossroads right now--I won't bore you with the details--but no matter what, this serum has been a great addition to my routine as of late. What brought you joy this week? Hope your weekend is chock full o' simple pleasures! We plan to tackle the guest bedroom tomorrow and I'm delighted to have the time and space to get back to really working on the house. Will share pics as soon as it's done (Which has to be soon, since we have our first guests coming at the end of the month! Yay!). Have a beautiful Friday! And if you don't want to brush your hair, just don't, okay!? We all need those kind of days... Comments are closed.
