Happy Friday, everyone! It's that time again...can someone please tell me how the weeks go by so quickly? Read on for my simple, sensory joys of the week... ![]() Hear: "Give In to Me" by Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester Ben and I watched the movie Country Strong last weekend, and absolutely LOVED it. It contained a number of my favorite things: country music, great voices, romance, emotional drama, and an uplifting ending :) Anyways, the soundtrack is totally amazing, and this song in particular really stuck with me. It's so beautiful! Garrett Hedlund has a spot-on country music voice, and who knew Leighton Meester could sing so well? Take a listen below: ![]() Taste: Cherries (and all summer fruits!) One of my all-time favorite things about summer is the number of glorious fruits that become available at the grocery store. One of my most-beloved? Cherries. We've gone through almost 2 bags this week, and they have been making me so happy. We also indulged in ripe peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and green grapes (and, of course, apples)...it's been a fruity week around here! And as a side note I've also been enjoying one of my favorite ways to eat summer berries this past week--in a bowl of yummy, healthy granola and milk. Delish! ![]() See: The Bachelorette Yes, I know. The Bachelor/Bachelorette is my GUILTIEST pleasure of all time...I don't know how I still enjoy it after all of these years, especially since I know it is SO scripted and fake and almost all of the couples break up right afterward--but I still just love it. Embarrassed? Slightly. Going to stop DVR-ing & watching it? Never. And for those of you out there who still watch it too (anyone?), can you believe how mean Bentley was this past week? Just horrible. ![]() Photo via barbroute.deviantart.com Touch: Heat from the Sun :) Yeah, so it was 99 degrees in D.C. today. And it was HOT. But, even though the past few days have been totally crazy and heat-wave-ish, I kind of like it. The summer is here, and it feels good to just sweat it out and not care. Plus, when it's this hot, you can use it as an excuse for almost anything (pool time, being tired/emotional/lazy, napping in the AC, etc.). I took some time this week to relax by the pool (see below), and I can thank the sun for that. Plus, I no longer have to wear "work clothes" in this heat, so I can enjoy it even more this summer! Another reason that being a yoga instructor is so amazing :) ![]() Smell: Chlorine and Sunscreen (aka the smells of summer + relaxation!) My simple joys theme this week? Summer is HERE! It really feels like it now, and the smells that brought me joy this week go right along with this feeling. I've been lathering on my sunscreen (SPF 50 for Babies) this week, and nothing reminds me of summer more than the smell of SPF and chlorine from the pool. Sure, it's not as nice as the lavender oil that brought me joy last week, but it was nice because it means that I'm spending time outside, doing something fun. A smell that goes hand-in-hand with these? Freshly mowed grass :) What brought *you* joy this past week? Take some time today to enjoy the simple things... Namaste! Mary Catherine

My simple joy: taking a long, slow, morning walk through the park. Slow because of the heat. My dog and I mosey from one shady spot to another until it seems like it is time to mosey home. Comments are closed.
