Happy Friday! How was your week? I hope full of love, relaxation, + inspiration.
As is par for the course on Cape Cod in late July, I'm a bit overextended as of late, but I'm working through it--and luckily, surrounded by summery simple joys everywhere that I look, which makes all tasks much more doable. Anywho, here's what brought me happiness over the past week--what are your SJOTW? HEAR: Halo Cover by Gary Lightbody [Lead singer of Snow Patrol] I watched the movie Cake last weekend (so sad but so good!), and this song played during the credits. Of course I Shazam-ed it and then scoured the internet for it, but sadly, I couldn't buy it anywhere. Lucky for me though, someone put together a YouTube video with scenes from the movie that features the song. So good! You can listen below: SEE: Hydrangeas {EVERYWHERE!} I've heard hydrangeas called the "signature flower of Cape Cod," and after this week, I would say that sounds about right. This time of year, they're in full bloom, they're everywhere, and they're breathtaking. This week, my daily walks with Sayde were basically hydrangea tours (and I wouldn't have it any other way). Soooooo beautiful! TASTE: Summer peaches We bought our first peaches of the summer and have been enjoying them as special treats each night after dinner this week. Each evening when we're done eating, I slice up a peach, bring it to the table, and then Ben and I eat it slowly and mindfully (or at least try). Ripe peaches are divine! I think they're one of my fave summer fruits out there...along with watermelon, blueberries, cherries... SMELL: Dirt, soil, + more mulch Late last week, we had our horrible Christmas Tree bushes removed from our front yard (you can see them here), so we spent some time last weekend buying new bushes and then planting them in front of our house. Even though it was crazy hot outside, it was pretty fun and very satisfying to see the finished product. Pics coming soon ;) TOUCH: Cool ocean water on a steamy hot day! As mentioned above, it was HOT on Cape Cod last weekend. Our days were way too packed with life stuff to actually go to the beach for the afternoon (sigh), but we did sneak away for about 15 mins to jump in the water, swim around, and cool down. In that moment, I felt so thankful that we live in a place where we can do that. Can't wait to actually go to the beach this weekend! Hope your week was equally full of summery simple joys. Have a wonderful last weekend in July! Soak it up. Comments are closed.
