Another week has come and gone, and this week, that means that I'm now just 1 month out from my due date, which is c r a z y. Ben and I are pretty shocked that we're going to get to meet our baby so soon (even if she does come late, we're still only about 6 weeks out), and we can't believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by.
Needless to say, I'm getting really excited + anxious, but I'm trying my best to stay super present and enjoy these last few baby-free weeks, despite the fact that I'm starting to get slightly less comfortable and had my first major experience with insomnia in the middle of the night last night (bleh). But that's neither here nor there, because we're supposed to be talking simple joys right now! So lets look back: what brought you joy, happiness, or relief over the past week or so? My SJOTW are below... HEAR: HypnoBirthing Meditation Recording As I mentioned in Monday's post, I'm doing HypnoBirthing classes as a part of my birth prep. One of the big tools of this birthing technique/approach is using self-hyponosis to get into a space a deep relaxation while in labor. At my session last week, I got my personalized hypnosis recording, and I've been listening to it every day since. It's really relaxing I've enjoyed doing it so far; obviously I have *no idea* what it will be like in labor, but it's comforting to have this tool in my tool belt and it definitely makes me feel more proactive about birth as labor gets closer... SEE: Flipped baby girl! As of last Tuesday, our little babe was upside down (in breech position) in the womb, which made me quite nervous. I spent late last week and last weekend doing everything I could possibly to do flip her (acupuncture, moxibustion, inversions, chiropractor, etc.), and this week, I found out that she flipped! Seeing her little head in the right place on the ultrasound machine made me tear up--I was so excited to see her and to know that she's in the right position now. Hooray! Silly little flexible yogi ;) TASTE: Smoothie from The Local Juice Bar + Pantry My favorite local fresh-pressed juice company has just opened their first brick + mortar juice bar, and it's amazing! I went by this week for a green smoothie, and it was crazy fresh and totally delicious. I am so happy to have such a healthy option so close to home, and can't wait for their Grand Opening celebration this weekend, where I'm looking forward to trying another of their smoothie flavors. SMELL: Ripe summer peaches I know you guys are probably sick of me saying how much I love summer fruit (and featuring a different summer fruit every single week), but what can I say? I am basically a fruititarian, and since I've been trying my best not to eat more than one dessert per week during pregnancy, sweet fruits have become even more important to me over the past 9 months. So yeah, this week I haven't been able to get enough of the scent and taste of the ripe peaches that I picked up last weekend. They taste like candy and smell divine! TOUCH: Breeze and sand during a Sunday night picnic on the beach On Sunday night, my friend Jen [also co-founder of The Local Juice, mentioned above] and I packed up a bunch of fruits, veggies, cheese, + hummus, and headed to the beach with our beach chairs for an evening picnic and catch-up session. I haven't had dinner on the beach yet this summer, and it was simply lovely. There's nothing like being on the beach in the evening after a crazy hot day, and it felt incredible (plus the company was fab!). Other SJOTW? Teaching my last workshop before baby last Friday night (thanks to everyone who came out!), taking my first group Prenatal class last weekend, receiving more amazing baby gifts in the mail (!!!), a challenging but super fun Barre class that left me quite sore, and of course, sweet morning Sayde snuggles in bed every day :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend full of simple pleasures!

Do you have a labor ball? Sitting on that as much as possible, or sitting in a position where your belly button would point straight ahead (versus you leaning back and belly button pointing toward the ceiling), will help keep baby girl's head down where it needs to be! So exciting! Comments are closed.
