July 4th weekend, OMG! This summer is flying by already! And it's obvious that it's going to be a huge weekend here on the Cape (touristly-speaking), as the weather is going to be *perfect* and traffic was already crazy yesterday... I hope you have some super fun plans for how you're going to spend your long weekend--Ben and I are hitting the beach, tackling some more "before baby" to-dos, and attending a fun July 4th shindig ;) But as usual, I'm getting ahead of myself; lets look back at this past week before we jump ahead into the weekend. What brought you happiness over the past 7 days? My simple, sensory joys of the week are below... HEAR: "No Diggity" by Chet Faker I put in a long workday at the computer yesterday, and listened to Pandora while I worked for most of the day. At one point around lunchtime, this song came on and it literally stopped me in my tracks. You guys know I can't resist an acoustic cover of a rap/R&B song, and this track totally hit the spot. Listen below--I promise you'll love it, too ;) SEE: Mala from Tiny Devotions The wonderful people over at Tiny Devotions sent me a gorgeous Mala (pictured above) this week, and it was such a treat to receive it in the mail! Not only is it beautiful, but the packaging it spot-on and I love a company that pays attention to every little detail (from a branding perspective). Thanks, Tiny Devotions! Can't wait to wear this Mala with pride. TASTE: Cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B's [in Chicago] Since I already shared a bit about my trip to Chicago, I've tried to leave it out of this round of SJOTW (although spending a weekend celebrating my BFF was definitely a simple joy!), but I can't resist mentioning these cupcakes that we enjoyed at Kelly's Bridal Shower on Sunday. They were *so* good! Now I see why Kelly is getting her wedding cake from this place...yum! SMELL: Oliology Natural Lip Balms Oh my, I think I've found a new favorite lip balm. I was given a 3-pack of these lip balms by one of my students, and I can't stop using them. They smell amazing, use natural oils like coconut + argan oil, and feel amazing going on. So glad that I have 3 huge tubes now (should get me through the summer...). TOUCH: Air Conditioning Ben and I have a constant AC battle: he doesn't want to turn on our Central AC because "you don't need it on Cape Cod in the summer," and I'm the one who is always home sweating while I work and who can't sleep when it's super hot. We fought about it all last year (and the year before...), but then near the end of last summer, we compromised by getting a window unit for our bedroom so that we don't have to cool the entire house all the time, just our room [at night]. Game. Changer. I have been sleeping super soundly ever since we put it in early last month and am *so* thankful for the cool, dark cave that I get to crawl into every night. So there you have it! I hope you can find the time to reflect on your simple, sensory joys of the week today, too... Have a wonderful holiday weekend! Comments are closed.
