As you probably know by now, I've decided that 2017 is my year of scaling WAY back and being okay with some things falling through the cracks {If you think this sounds crazy/lazy, I explained myself in more detail in my January Newsletter, which you can read here}.
As a part of this, I've decided to change how I do the weekly pic for SJOTW, as you can see above. From now on, I'll include just 3 pics for each week's edition in the hopes that this will save me quite a bit of time every Friday morning (and because hunting down and/or taking 5 pics for this post every week for 6 years feels like quite enough effort in this area for one lifetime, haha!). My plan is to try and capture the essence of the week and of my simple joys in just these 3 pics; I hope you're okay with that and understand that this is just another tiny step in my work scale back a bit in everything I do ;) Thus, here are this week's simple, sensory pleasures. We're still focused on baby sleep around here, and it seems that we continue to take 1 step forward and 2 steps back, but we'll get there...in the meantime, we're also trying to focus on everything that we're grateful for, which is a lot! HEAR: Pandora's "Nursery Medley" Radio When you spend a large chunk of your day [or all day] with a baby, you quickly start to look for kid-friendly ways to add some entertainment to your routine. My newest addition to our playtime is children's music in the form of "Nursery Medley Radio" on Pandora. I've loved learning new songs to sing with Charlie Mae and am super thankful for all of the talented artists who have created beautiful, fun kid's albums. SEE: Sunshine, melting snow, + warmer temps While the blizzard + 13" of snow last weekend was fun, the freezing temps and snow-covered neighborhood roads really put a damper on our daily walks (it was too dangerous with a dog and a baby on all of the ice). But then on Wednesday it finally got warm and sunny enough for the snow to start to melt and for us to get back outside...and it was glorious! I've never been so happy to see the asphalt--we were getting pretty stir-crazy ;) TASTE: Golden Milk Have you ever had Golden Milk? It's known for it's digestive + anti-inflammatory benefits and and I think it's delicious. I tried a new brand as a part of an Instagram Takeover that I did for our local Whole Foods Market last weekend, and Ben and I had great fun enjoying a warm glass by the fire during the storm [while the babe slept]. Yum! SMELL: Homemade French Toast I made French Toast last weekend and Ben actually liked it! It's rare that I make any of our meals around here, but last weekend after Ben had been outside shoveling our driveway for 2 hours straight, I offered to make this breakfast treat for him/us and he accepted (which he usually doesn't because he's a micromanager and doesn't trust my skills in the kitchen, haha!). It was so good! I forgot how much I enjoy this easy breakfast option. TOUCH: My new TOMS Boots I've always been a huge TOMS fan, but until recently, had only ever bought their original shoes--you know the ones. Then for Christmas, Ben gave me these boots (which I picked out and asked for, of course), and I'm loving them. They're crazy comfortable for boots, go with everything, and make me feel much more put together during these days when I am always anything but... And that's it for this week! What brought you joy over the past 7 days? Take some time to reflect today, if you can. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Comments are closed.
