A few of the simple, sensory joys that brought me pleasure this week...
HEAR: Fire crackling in the fireplace (first fire!) We've never had a real fireplace of our own. Not in any of our apartments (obvs), not in our last house (it was gas and was behind a glass partition), so having a fireplace is REALLY exciting. We still have tons of unpacked boxes and unpainted rooms, but goshdarnit, we've already gotten all of our fireplace tools + wood and have had two fires! They have been ah-mazing. We're obsessed and will probably have fires every night for the rest of our mutual life. SEE: Starr Struck Radio featured in iTunes "New & Noteworthy" Section!!! When we decided to start a podcast and I was doing tons of research, I found out that as a new show, you can only hope to be featured in the "New & Noteworthy" section of iTunes, but that there's no one thing you can do to be sure you're featured, as it's determined by a complicated algorithm based on all sorts of stats and numbers and things. So, I tried to let it go and just hope we made something worth featuring. And then, this week, out of nowhere, BAM! There we were! It was SO exciting to see our weird little logo up there with a bunch of other new shows. Yay! A huge thanks to all of you who have subscribed, downloaded, and reviewed, as I hear that's mostly what it's based on ;) [Btw, I've had a request to write about how we started our podcast, so stay tuned next week for a post outlining the steps!] TASTE: Dang Toasted Coconut Chips [Unsweetened] Another coconut SJOTW--are you surprised? But if you haven't tried these and you're a coconut person, you must. Now. They have two ingredients: coconut and sea salt. That's it. And they're SOOOOO good. And yes, in case you were wondering, Sayde agrees with me on this one and is also a BIG fan ;) SMELL: Does ice cream have a smell? I'm going with yes. Once we were all moved in on Sunday night, I sat down on the couch, one of the few items in the house that was set up and in the right place, and I ate ice cream right out of the carton with a spoon. Some might call this a low point, but I'm calling it a high point because we were done with the move! We were in our new house! The whole fam was on the couch together (Sayde begging for ice cream, of course), and I was enjoying a special treat! Once I'd eaten my fill, I handed the carton to Ben and he finished it off (pint, not quart...just to be clear). TOUCH: Unpacking, organizing, and putting things together... Although I don't love unpacking, I do love organizing and deciding where furniture, art, and decor goes. So, even though I've been a bit overwhelmed by all of the stuff everywhere and not being able to find that stupid document I need, it's also been really exciting and gratifying to empty one box after another and find new homes for all of our belongings. #workinprogress How was your week? What are your SJOTW? I hope you take some time to reflect on them today. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! If you need me, I'll be knee-deep in unpacking + cleaning up our old house, in between [fun] social obligations, of course ;) Comments are closed.
