Every once in a while, I have one of those weeks where I experience such an overwhelming number of simple, sensory joys, that I don't even know where to begin. This is a good problem to have, as it often means that I'm on a trip somewhere, or have been lucky enough to enjoy a really fun life event, or it's the holidays + my birthday week (as it was this week!), but it makes choosing my top five SJOTW very, very hard. So, my solution for weeks like these is to include a handful of simple joys for each of the five senses, so that I'm able to share lots of these moments with you. So lets delve right in, shall we? What brought you happiness this week? My simple pleasures are listed below... Hear: Comedians at the DC Improv (so good!) + Cassadee Pope winning The Voice (big fan of her voice!) + Christmas music (which I've been playing around the clock these days!) See: Beautifully set table o'goodies at a girls' get-together (and mini-bday celebration) + wearing holiday flair (I'm obviously obsessed with flair!) + Louis the Pug (who we had over for a sleepover last weekend!) Taste: Birthday Apple Pie (with sprinkles on top!?) + Chrismas cookies + birthday dinner at Bistro du Coin (check out the amazing Chocolat Fondant that both Ben and I ordered for dessert!) Smell: Homemade candles + Peppermint Tea from India + huge, beautiful "Sapphire Skies" scented candle, all gifted to me be super-thoughtful friends! Touch: Massage at the Teal Center (divine!!!!!) + Birthday mani/pedi + new handmade leg warmers from India See what a magical week it was!? I am SO filled with gratitude for all of the thoughtful gifts, messages, calls, treats, surprises, and kind words. A BIG thanks to everyone who made this week so special :)
Here's to a wonderful pre-Christmas weekend for all! I wish you safe travels, mindful last-minute shopping trips, and a sense of inner peace among all of the craziness & excitement that surrounds this time of year. We head to Atlanta on Sunday evening, and I promise you that I'll be practicing my yogic breathing as we navigate the crowds... Namaste! Mary Catherine PS. If you're around tomorrow, join me and a bunch of other TSA teachers for our Winter Solstice 108 Sun Salutations Celebration from 2-4pm! It should be a lot of fun ;) 12/21/2012 09:27:53 pm
