Happy Cinco de Mayo! Also, happy May! And happy Friday! Plenty to celebrate today ;)
I've got lots to get to this morning, so lets jump right in! Some of my favorite simple, sensory joys from the past week are below... HEAR: "Harvest Moon" by Poolside {Also, Spotify} This is embarrassing, but I *just* joined Spotify Premium this week and it has already been kind of life-changing [musically-speaking]. I think this month's class playlist is one of my best in a long time and it's because of the infusion of new songs that I found on Spotify (duh). That being said, this song is on my May Playlist and every time it came on in my classes this week, I got a little extra pep in my step while teaching. Listen to it here. SEE: My new yoga tanks! As you may have seen on social media this week (or when yours arrived in the mail), I picked up my newest round of tanks last Friday and I love them! Seriously--I think they're the best yet. At the time of my writing this there are only 3 of the rescue dog tanks left and just a handful of the "Because yoga" tanks still in stock, so if you want one before they sell out, grab it here. TASTE: Food + cake at Ben's Birthday celebration We had our family birthday celebration for Ben last weekend and it was a success! He had a lot of fun, Charlie Mae loved it, and more importantly (ha!), the food was delicious. We got takeout from our favorite Mexican place and I made him our family's traditional Sour Cream Pound Cake, which we've been quietly finishing all week. Yum. SMELL: Indu Aromatherapy Spray One of my students brought me a little bottle of this spray (and lotion) last weekend and it smells incredible. It's made by a Jivamukti yoga teacher and the combination of essential oils is simply heavenly. I've been loving spraying it my studio while working this week; now to incorporate it into my classes! Thanks for the gift, Nancy ;) TOUCH: Baby Carrier Hip Hop Class Remember last Friday when I mentioned that I was going to my first Baby Carrier Hip Hop class ? It was SOOOOO much fun! Seriously, it was one of my favorite things I've done in a long time and I'm so looking forward to today's class. It's just what it sounds like: you wear your baby and then dance for an hour while an amazing dance teacher teaches you [while wearing her baby too, of course]. We were sweaty and tired when it was over and it was perfect. We need more things like this in the world because this is what moms need--time to let loose with other moms + babies and just dance their hearts out ;) Other simple joys? Taking a yoga class (yes!), a fun baby swim class, a few days of gorgeous spring weather + basking in the sunshine, and two great days of daycare for Charlie Mae, which means that I was able to get some good work done (phew). I hope you had a wonderful week, too! Take some time to reflect on your simple, sensory joys today if you can... And have a lovely weekend! I'll see you back here bright + early on Monday morning.
