This week has been a nose-to-the-grindstone sort of week, and I've spent almost every waking moment catching up on work, answering emails, and teaching yoga.
But, as we all know by now, even weeks that are filled with work can still be full of simple, sensory pleasures, so here are a few of the little things that brought me joy this week... HEAR: Buzz of the window A/C unit...perfect white noise for sleeping! We have central A/C in our house--which actually isn't that common for houses on the Cape--but sadly, when temps reached 80+ for the first time this summer, we figured out that it doesn't really cool our upstairs. So, we bought a window unit for our bedroom and I have to tell you, it's been amazing sleeping ever since! The white noise + cool air + snuggly pup under the covers = summer night perfection. SEE: My eBook going live (!!) I know you're probably sick of hearing me talk about my new eBook, but--BUT!--this week was an exciting one for me because I finally put out a project that I have been working on since January. January--that's 8 month ago, people! Sometimes, when you work for yourself, you end up putting off your passion projects so that you can focus on client work and more immediate projects/events that pay the bills, so completing something that I did in the nooks + crannies of my schedule feels really good. {Also, a reminder that if you plan on purchasing How to Earn a Living Teaching Yoga: A Business Guide for Yoga Teachers, you might as well do so before 11:59pm today so that you can be entered in my celebratory eBook launch giveaway! More info here.} TASTE: Throat Comfort Yogi Tea I've been fighting off a stupid summer cold that has been going around (Ben had it when I got back in town last weekend) and although I think that my overworked/overscheduled life hasn't helped my cause, I think that my love for tea and sitting outside in the sun has definitely helped stave off the summer cold blues. And don't worry, students, I've been using loads of hand sanitizer while teaching! ;) SMELL: A dirt-covered Sayde {Because she's just *SO* cute!} Earlier this week, Sayde found out that there is a little mole colony living in the dark, cool space beneath our deck. While I was distracted on a consulting call yesterday, she snuck right under me and spent an hour digging a hole to China trying to find her mole friends. When I finally discovered what she'd done and lured her out with treats, she was more covered in dirt than I've ever seen in my life and she smelled SO much like the earth (a little too much), but wow was she happy and adorable. Sadly, I didn't get a pic... TOUCH: Sculpey Modeling Clay I'm working on a really fun new wedding cake topper of a bird + mouse couple (so cute!), and yesterday I finally found the time to sit down and create the two little figures out of Sculpey. It felt so good to get my hands in the clay, and I was able to get lost in the process and take a mental break from all of my other work (client websites and design work at the computer). Can't wait to paint these little critters today! ...And that's it for this week. What brought you joy over the past seven days? Take some time to reflect today, if you can... Have a glorious summer weekend, everyone! Comments are closed.
