Welp, the last full week in August has come and is *almost* gone. September is happening next week and I simply can't believe it. This summer was a quick one!
But before we jump ahead and start talking September + fall, lets take a look back at the past 7 days + try to enjoy the last weekend in August. What brought you joy over the past week? My simple, sensory pleasures are below: HEAR: The Longest Shortest Time + Mystery Show {Two new-to-me podcasts} Although I've been hearing about both of these podcasts for a while now, I didn't really get into them until this past week. The Longest Shortest Time is about parenting (more about motherhood) and as with my other favorite mommy podcast, I'm really enjoying it--despite not being a parent--because it shares people's personal stories and is very moving. As for Mystery Show, I listened to the first episode back when it first came out, but didn't get into it at the time. I only recently picked it back up again to give it another try, and this time, I got hooked. Each week the host solves a somewhat silly mystery, but she's really lovable, it's really well done, and very entertaining. Check them out! Oh, and if you're looking for more podcast listening, Starr Struck Radio will be back on Tuesday, 9.1 (next week!). Make sure you're subscribed so it lands in your app ASAP when it goes up! ;) SEE: Downton Abbey Season #5 Season#5 of Downton Abbey finally arrived on Amazon Prime! So obviously, we started it last weekend. We're only two episodes in, but it's great to see our old friends/the characters again. And yes, the percentage of sentences spoken in accents in our household just increased twofold. Obviously. TASTE: My first Edible Arrangement! As you know, I've always been a total fruit girl, so I've always thought that receiving an Edible Arrangement would be pretty dreamy. This week, I found out that I was right, they're amazing. My sweet friend Erica (who visited last week), sent us one as a thank you, and we devoured it. Ben was partial to the watermelon balls, but I loved it all. Yum. SMELL: Cool summer mornings... I know this doesn't technically have a strong smell, but there is something super refreshing--something that makes you want to take a deep breath and seize the day--when you wake up and there's a chill in the air after a summer of heat. This week has marked the return of that perfect Cape Cod weather: warm, sunny days, and cool mornings + evenings. It's been divine! TOUCH: Floating into handstand Yesterday, I did a home practice focused on handstand, which I've been working on for quite a while now; to say I'm obsessed with this pose is an understatement. Anyways, I've been playing a lot with jumping into handstand from down dog, and yesterday, I did it without ever touching the wall for the first time. It was one of the most empowering moments I've had in my yoga practice in a while, and I was thrilled. {Note: the image above is obviously NOT of me doing handstand, but legs-up-the-wall at the end of that tiring practice.} #practicemakesprogress That's it for me! Hope you can find the time to reflect on some of your #SJOTW today, too... Quick note to all my DC/VA yogi friends: I'm heading to Tranquil Space to teach two workshops in November! My tickets have been booked + sign-ups are now open :) Check out both workshop descriptions + reserve your space here. Oh, and my September newsletter will go out on Tuesday, so if you'd like to receive it, you can sign up below: Have a wonderful last weekend in August, everyone! Comments are closed.
