What a week! Last week in April, Ben's 33rd birthday, and a total sprint right into May...which is basically here now.
To me, May = almost summer, which means that the crazy season here on the Cape is just around the corner, which means that August is just around the corner, which means that our baby is coming soon...CRAZY! Anyways, how was your week? Was it full of simple, sensory joys? I hope so! Here are some of the simple pleasures that brought me happiness over the past 7 days... HEAR: "Hello" cover by Walk off the Earth + Myles Erlick & Isaac Lupien I know that we've all heard 10000 "Hello" covers by now (and we're all kind of sick of them), but I promise, this one is worth listening to/watching. It's incredible! And they don't use any instruments or mics! Just a garage, a surfboard, snapping and tap dancing, + "whippy tubes" (whatever those are). People are talented. Watch below: SEE: Dachshund Yoga Tank My students are some of the most thoughtful people ever. This week, one of my students (shout-out Angela!) surprised me with the yoga tank pictured above--yes, it's a dog that looks a lot like Sayde doing yoga. I know. No words needed, right? She was shocked when she found out that I didn't already have the tank and had never seen it before... TASTE: Veggie sushi + seaweed salad from Inaho On Friday night, I met a friend at a local sushi spot for a much-needed catch-up sesh and delicious sushi. To be clear, I am pregnant and can't eat raw fish, but have also never liked raw fish, so that wasn't a problem. I LOVE seaweed salad and veggie rolls, which I've been craving lately, so it was the perfect night out. We were even treated to some free dessert (by more amazing students who, unbeknownst to me, work at the restaurant we went to!), so it was quite the sensory experience. SMELL: Spring clean-up "burn pile" Last weekend, we did a bit of a spring clean-up in the yard. No, no beautiful landscaping or mulching yet, but raking, picking up sticks, you know, the super glamorous stuff ;) Then we made our burn pile, which Ben LOVES manning (I think it makes him feel very legit to have a fire outside), and brought out all of our porch furniture and outdoor summer decor. The fire burning smelled great, it was a beautiful, sunny day, and it felt very exciting to have a table and chairs outside again. Hooray for warmer weather! TOUCH: Birthday banner For Ben's birthday on Tuesday we both had very busy days, so sadly, we didn't rendez-vous back at the house until after 8pm. But that didn't stop us from having a mini celebration that was still sweet, even if on a very small scale. I love all of the little birthday rituals--even when they're low-key--like hanging our sparkly birthday banner in the kitchen in the morning before Ben comes downstairs, blasting our special birthday song (long story) throughout the house while dancing along, and singing happy birthday to Ben in Sayde's "voice" (if you have a dog, you know what I mean here). It's so much fun celebrating loved ones and I'm excited for his slightly bigger family celebration this weekend. Other SJOTW? Getting yet another bag of amazing hand-me-down baby stuff from a student, enjoying a home-cooked dinner with friends, taking some great yoga + barre classes, getting a fresh haircut by the incredible Kate Scott, + painting the nursery (which we plan on finishing this weekend). What brought you joy over the past week? I hope you can find some time to reflect today... Oh, and two quick things before I close:
Have a great weekend, everyone! Comments are closed.
