Last year, on my husband Ben's birthday, I let him do a guest post version of Simple Joys of the Week. He was VERY excited about it, and it was fun to post someone else's simple pleasures for once (sometimes I get sick of hearing myself talk/write?), so I decided to make it a yearly thing. Thus, since Ben's birthday is tomorrow (he'll be 31!!), I promised him last Friday that he could again do a guest version of SJOTW this week [Side note: I know you're seeing a lot of Ben this week--with yesterday's crazy video and today's guest post--but hey, he's a big part of my life, so you might as well get to know him better, right?]. Happy early birthday, hubby! Here are a few of his simple, sensory joys of the week (written by Ben, of course)... HEAR: “Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me” by Hunter Hayes I’ve recently shifted gears away from CrossFit and have, instead, been training for a local road race her on Cape Cod--The Falmouth Road Race. I’ve found that listening to Country music has helped me relax while running. This Hunter Hayes song came over my Pandora station the other day and it was a lovely experience. I literally started snapping my fingers and waving at every person I crossed on the running trail. It’s such a fun song. I hope you enjoy it as much as me! [You can listen below.] SEE: Mad Men Season 6 on Netflix This is my favorite show of all-time, and Season 6 has finally come out on Netflix. My friends make fun of me because my favorite character is Pete Campbell. I can somehow relate to his struggles, though, so I don’t care. TASTE: Smartfood! I used to love Smartfood as a child and have recently started eating it again. I usually have a bowl (or two) every afternoon after work (along with an apple and mixed nuts). It’s not as unhealthy as most people believe. The only ingredients are popcorn, vegetable oil, cheddar cheese, whey, buttermilk, and salt. There is no sugar or anything artificial. I consider Smartfood to be “good carbs.” Plus, it’s delicious! SMELL: Rowing Outdoors This isn’t a specific smell, per se. However, now that it’s getting warmer, I’ve recently started pulling my rowing machine outside onto the driveway for my rowing workouts. It’s awesome to row in the sunshine with all the sounds and smells of spring around you. TOUCH: Couch Snuggles with Sayde There’s nothing better than snuggling with Sayde on the couch during the evening. She is so warm and loves to nuzzle her cold, wet nose into any nook-and-cranny she can find. She has added such an incredible dimension to my life. She’s such a good puppy! How cute is that? Ben LOVES talking about his SJOTW around the house, so it's fun to give him a chance to share them publicly :) What brought you happiness over the past 7 days? I have to share that one of my biggest SJOTW was getting the BEST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE yesterday {Shout-out to the fabulous Kate Scott!}. OMG. I woke up this morning and it still looked fabulous (after teaching a yoga class last night) and I'm trying to enjoy it in the present, but I'm already upset about the fact that it will never look this good again...srrrrrsssly, you guys. Have a wonderful Friday! Comments are closed.
