I'm in DC! I made it here and it's SO great to be back! As my plane descended yesterday, I got a little teary-eyed watching all of the monuments, fields, and familiar sights go by, but in a wonderful, I-love-this-place-and-am-so-thankful-for-the-time-I-spent-here kind of way :)
But that's not what this column is about, is it!? Here are a few of the simple, sensory pleasures that have brought me joy over the past week... HEAR: Yoga by Janelle Monae Um, have you heard this song!?!? I know it's kind of more about sex than yoga, but also, it's about yoga! How fun! Plus it's really catchy and fun (Thanks for telling me about it, Alli!). I've requested that the DJ play this song in Hip Hop Yoga this weekend, so I'm hoping he obliges (and perhaps finds a clean version where all the sexual terms are replaced with sanskrit yoga terms?). You can listen + watch below: SEE: DC! Friends in DC! Cherry blossoms! As mentioned above (and many times before), it feels so special every time I come back here. DC is home to so many wonderful memories and people, and I love coming back every time. Also, it's real spring here (not fake spring, like on Cape Cod), and it's gorgeous and warm and wonderful! I'm so happy to be here. TASTE: Burrito at Surfside in DC My first meal back in DC? Surfside for dinner Thursday night, thankyouverymuch. So yummy and so fun to be back in a place where we enjoyed many a meal when living here. Also, I'm starting to realize that Ben and I tend to find a go-to burrito spot everywhere that we live and then frequent that spot ALL the time. We're BIG fans of burritos. SMELL: Toothpaste [After a long day of traveling...] You know how when you've been flying and traveling for about 6 hours and ALL you want to do is brush your teeth? That was me last night. Brushing my teeth felt like heaven, and the scent of toothpaste + a fresh mouth felt AMAZING. You have to know what I'm talking about, right...? TOUCH: Bags of leaves + yard refuse This is ridiculous, but Ben and I spent last weekend cleaning up our new yard for the first time, and it was SO satisfying! It felt so different than doing yard work at our last [rental] house, and I was so proud of everything that we accomplished in just one afternoon. Plus, it was a GORGEOUS day and I was really happy being outside with Ben, Sayde, and our new house. And no, Sayde couldn't handle it because there were TONS of dogs and people out and about, so I ended up having to wrap her leash around my waist and do yard work with her tagging along, so that she could be within 4 feet of me at every moment. #Highmaintenance What brought you joy over the past 7 days? I hope you can find some time to reflect today. And now I'm going to go help my friend Sara prep for her sweet 3 year old's birthday party (tomorrow!)... Have a wonderful weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at my workshops :) Comments are closed.
