Hello everyone! Welcome to a new week and the newest installment of "Shake Your Asana!" As I was working on my January class playlist last week, I realized that it had been forever since I'd shared a collection of my favorite songs from my recent yoga class playlists. So, that's what we're doing today. To be clear, the 10 songs below were not released in 2012, but rather, were used by yours truly one of my 2012 playlists. Some are older songs, some are newer, some are "yoga music," and others are Top 40, but they all have one thing in common--I had a whole lot of fun teaching and practicing to them in 2012 ;) So lets take a listen, shall we? Oh, and just so you know, this time around, they're in no particular order... 1. Anything by Balmorhea. Some of my favorites are "Baleen Morning," "Bowspirit," "Lament," "Truth," and "The Winter." I've included The Winter below: 2. Welcome Home, Son by Radical Face: 3. Young Blood by Birdy: 5. Shake It Out by Florence + The Machine: 6. Nwahulwana by Mazimbo and Orchestra Marrabenta Star de Mocambique 7. Sun Light by MC Yogi: 8. Breathe In Breathe Out by Matt Kearney: 9. Sálvese Quien Pueda by Juana Molina: 10. Lokah Samastah (Upbeat Version) by Sharron Gannon: See? Lots of very fun and relaxing songs ;)
What were some your favorite songs to practice to--or that made it onto your yoga class playlists--in 2012? For more yoga music ideas, you can check out the following past posts:
Or, you can browse my monthly class playlists, here. Happy listening! Because I think there's always room for more amazing music in the world (and in yoga classes!)... Namaste! Mary Catherine
