[A bunch of Tranquil Space team members after Hip Hop yoga on Friday] At this moment, I am sitting on the couch in our new place in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. How crazy is that? There's a fire in the fireplace, a scented candle burning nearby, music playing--and boxes, newspaper, and household objects EVERYWHERE that I look. But, I'm not phased by the chaos at all. Weirdly enough, I'm feeling very at peace, very relaxed, very comfortable here. Honestly, I just feel at home, which is amazing. Does it help that Ben and I are in love with the house that we're renting (the house that we hadn't seen until we pulled up on Sunday morning)? Yes. And does it help that I have an AMAZING new studio space upstairs? Yes (!). And that across the street from our house there's a large wilderness conservation area, which allows our new home to be surrounded by trees and feel totally secluded? Yes, yes, and yes! It's better than I ever could have imagined. Although leaving DC on Saturday morning was really weird, and saying goodbye to everyone after Hip Hop Yoga on Friday night was very, very sad, I woke up this morning feeling really good about this move. I'm excited by the unknown--the chance to start fresh, to explore a new place, to slow down a bit--and the opportunity to finally live near a built-in support system (Ben's family). A quick recap of the past 3 days: Friday night I taught Hip Hop yoga and said goodbye to Tranquil Space. Saturday we awoke at 6am, picked up our moving van, filled it up with all of our stuff (with the help of movers), and then hit the road at 12pm. We arrived in Cape Cod at 10pm, slept over at a family member's house, and at 8:30am Sunday, drove to Harwich to see our new place. We spent all day moving (with the help of a small family army), unpacking, running errands, and getting organized. Then we finished out the day with a delicious home-cooked dinner with some friends. Incredibly enough, the long drive, the move, and our first night here went as smoothly as we could have hoped. Like woah. As Ben got ready for his first day of work at his new job this morning, he reminded me of a little kid on the first day of school. He woke up early to get in a quick workout in our new garage gym (a lifelong dream of his that is in the process of coming to fruition here!), and then we ate breakfast together and talked about our plans for the day. It felt right--like everything is as it should be--and my heart grew a little bigger seeing Ben finally go off to a job that he's truly excited about, as I've gotten to do everyday for the past 3.5 years. So, with that, here are a few quick snapshots from the past few days. I promise that I'll post pics of the inside of our new house once I've unpacked a bit more, but until then, these will have to do... [Find out why we didn't pack our balsamic vinegar here...] How cute is our house? I simply adore it. And DC people, get this--we have 3 bedrooms, an office, a big yard, a garage, a back patio, and a fireplace--all for less than we were paying for our 1 bedroom in Arlington! Yikes. Thank you SO much to all of you who sent me well wishes and messages about the move! I feel very grateful to have such a wonderful online cOMmunity... Now off to unpack! PS. It's 43 degrees outside right now! Hello, New England ;)

I have to add to the chorus that the house is just too cute! I'm also incredibly jealous of the beautiful fall colors...makes me almost miss the northeast, living in upstate NY during college (sure that will change once you start blogging about snow haha). I'm so glad to hear that you're settling in well so far to your new home. I can't wait to read more posts this week as you set up the house and find your way around Cape Cod!

Hey MaryCatherine! I went online the TS website and of course, immediately thought of you! I decided to check up. What a wonderful house and while I know DC will miss you, and you will miss the people ... uhhh ... what a great physical move for the two of you!! I am so excited for you. Sorry we did not stick around after hip-hop yoga. Mark ran the 1/2 and 1/2 half-smoke run the following morning. Explanation: run 1/2 of a 1/2 marathon (6+ miles), arrive a Ben's Chili Bowl, eat a "half-smoke", ... then run the second half of the 1/2 marathon. yeah - nobody pukes during this race. It is amazing. Anyway - miss you but happy you are off to a fantastic start in Cape Code. Looks beautiful! :)
