Welp, I'm back from my last trip to DC for the foreseeable future, and the trip was wonderful (as usual), but also quite bittersweet...
Since moving to Cape Cod in November 2013, I've gone back to DC/VA twice per year to visit friends, teach at my original yoga home Tranquil Space, and reconnect with my community there. As I've said many times here on the blog, my four years in DC were truly transformative, and the reason for this is the yoga studio that I was a part of and the people that I met there. So, going back twice per year has been an amazing way for me to remember, honor, and reconnect with those roots and continue to be a part of that community. Thus, when flying away from the city yesterday, I was struck with sadness that I won't be back in another 5-6 months, as usual. With our baby coming in August, my life is going to change in many ways, and this is one of them. Of course I'll be back again once the babe is older and I'm ready to start traveling again, but for the time being, my bi-annual trips will be postponed--and that's just another adjustment that comes with this big life shift. So, I just want to say a *ginormous* thank you to everyone who came out to my workshops this weekend, to the friends who hosted me + carved out time to catch up, and to all of the loving souls that make up the DC/VA yoga community that I am lucky enough to have been a part of during my time in the city {and continue to feel a part of from afar}. Each time I go back to DC, I am reminded of the importance of staying connected to those people, places, and communities that have impacted you in a positive way, and I encourage you, my dear readers, to reach out and stay as connected as possible to the communities that have played similar roles in your own lives. It is so powerful to touch-base every once in a while, and I can't wait until I can get back to doing so in the future... Until sometime in 2017, DC/VA! And Cape Cod, get used to having me around much more starting in July or so ;) Comments are closed.
