![]() Another one of my pieces from Squam :) In class on Thursday, the teacher, Sarah, shared this poem with us. It was written in her journal and someone asked her to read it aloud because it is just so beautiful. I don't think e.e. cummings needs an introduction, so I'll skip it this week, but this is by far my favorite one of his poems that I've ever come across. Enjoy! maggie and milly and molly and may 10 maggie and milly and molly and may went down to the beach (to play one day) and maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and milly befriended a stranded star whose rays five languid fingers were; and molly was chased by a horrible thing which raced sideways while blowing bubbles: and may came home with a smooth round stone as small as a world and as large as alone. For whatever we lose (like a you or a me) it's always ourselves we find in the sea My favorite line of this poem? "As small as a world and as large as alone." Sublime. Off to class to create some visual poetry :) Have a glorious day! Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
