Last Thursday, I did a post about my painting process and shared some pics of the two of the yoga paintings that I'm currently working on. As a follow-up to that post, I wanted to share the most recent changes to these paintings, as well as a new yoga painting that I started this week :) For me, the most challenging time at the studio is when I first walk in. Deciding which painting to pick up and begin working on is a scary decision--if I like where I stopped with the painting last week, then there's always the lingering fear that I'll go in there and mess it up today--especially when the paint has dried, and I'm not working into wet oil paint anymore. But, as I reminded myself today when I started to feel the negativity creeping in, once I get in there and start painting, I get completely wrapped up in what I'm doing, lost in the moment, and all of my trepidation melts away... ...sounds a bit like the practice of yoga, wouldn't you say? Anyways, enjoy! Painting #1: Dove Pose ![]() As you can see, I spent some time today adding more light to the painting--to the skin, the shirt, the background, and the floor/mat. Still not done, but getting there! *Also, as a sidenote, this is a really bad picture. There is a weird glare that makes the painting look a lot more washed out than it is. I didn't do anything with the face today, but it looks different in this pic than it does in the one above....annoying. Painting #2: Wide-Legged Forward Fold Painting #3: Extended Side Angle And there you have it! Check back next Thursday for (hopefully) a finished product or two. I'll begin a few more poses next week, as well.
Oh, and did I mention that I heart yoga? Yep. Namaste! Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
